Does anyone have suggestions for some creative wording for save the dates?

Nothing tooo cheesy, please :), but maybe a little more interesting than just "Please save the date for x and y''s marriage on xyz date, this city, this state"?

Our''s said this:

SAVE THE DATE!
Cleopatra and FI
are tying the knot
August 2, 2008

location
formal invitation to follow

Nothing fancy...just what''s it''s supposed to do - save the date.

Yep, mine say just about the same thing as Cleopatra.

Please Save the Date
v!v!
and
v!v!'s fiance

are getting married on Saturday

location

Formal Invitation to Follow

ETA: sorry, I just reread that you were looking for something creative...sorry I can't be more helpful!

This would definitely not work for everyone, but FI and I are teachers so it works for us! We had a magnet with stick figures on it that said "See buttercup. See FI. See buttercup and FI get married!" (like a beginning reader book) and then it had our date and our website address. . .

I think if you do a cute layout the wording can be simple - like the ones where couples take pics in photobooth holding papers up giving the information?

Oh, that''s cute!

Ours says:

Save the Date
to celebrate the wedding of

Musey
and
Musey's FI

October 4, 2008
Malibu, California

Formal invitation to follow

So it's pretty standard. People seemed to like it, though

Do you have something thematically specific to you two or your wedding that we could go off of? I love buttercup's idea!

Well, we''re getting married in Napa, which kind of screams *theme* wedding, but I don''t want to over do it. I guess I was just wondering if people often do anything a little different with the wording on their save the dates.

Ours was absolutely identical to Musey''s - we printed them up on little post-card sized cardstock (it was the kind that has a little bit of a texture to look aged), and then DH and I used stamps of a old-fashioned compass and a pocket watch - which was a bit of a nod to our location''s historical significance.

I will say I love the magnets though - we thought about it for so long, but then decided that eh, it was MUCH cheaper to just DIY plain postcards. We had several people (wedding party, family) ask us multiple times when our date was AFTER we''d sent our STD, and I feel like magnets might have fixed that prob.
