Hi all, I got this Victorian brooch today and the sapphire is certified unheated and a little over 1 ct. I'm planning (hoping?) To make it into a ring. It was not super expensive, buy still wanted to get a sanity check on the color. I'll post more when I receive it.

Would it bug you if one of those side diamonds are simulant? One looks a bit suspicious - imo.
id have someone local check it within your return period -if so.

looks like a pretty blue- a bit less saturated than the vendor pic (on my screen) but not horribly so.

@Rfisher , the lab says diamonds but I'll run it over to my guy anyway, because I'm planning to make it a ring. I was afraid that the color is really dark (I tend to like lighter color) so I was relieved it's on the less saturated side. This is a pic in the shade/dark. It was truly a bargain anyway, for unheated antique.

Hi all, so it came back from GIA as unheated, 6.10 x 4.71 x 3.73 mm, Crown Modified Brilliant Cut, Sri Lanka. The side stones are not diamonds, some sort of natural stones but I didn't spend the extra $ to identify them. I'm keeping it as it was very inexpensive and love the stone. My first thought was setting it with two old cut diamonds and flip the sapphire for more finger coverage but now I'm thinking of a toi & moi with a unheated yellow sapphire, also victorian. The yellow sapphire is 6.3mm × 6.4mm x 8.5m. Give me some more ideas, please.

Love the toi et moi idea. Yellow and blue is a lovely combo. What shape is the yellow sapphire?

@monarch64 it's oval but old cut too. This is an example of the color combo, although much larger. I'm not a statement ring kind of person, mine would be much simpler

Ok that ring is superb, though! Wow! Love the colors, I’m sure whatever you design will be beautiful. Cannot wait to see how it turns out—do you have a jeweler in mind that you want to work with?

@monarch64 , yes, two. One quoted me 500 for the 18k gold and labor, which I think it's a decent price.
