Same semi-mount two jewelers $1700 difference

I have been searching for a setting for months and have finally found one I love. I have been working with one jewelry store in particular and would like to purchase from them since they have been so patient with me. They carry the line that I found the semi-mount in and can order it but said that there would be a casting fee as the dealer would have to custom cast the mount to fit my diamond. There is another store in town who has the ring in stock and says that the mounting will fit my diamond fine and that the ring does not need to be custom cast. Does anyone have any thoughts on why it would be better to have the ring custom cast if the mm size fits within the dimensions of the ring?

The reason???? more money...go to the store who has the best price and reward their honesty and fair business practices. Shame on that other store. Would have no problem with not doing biz with them no matter how much they have "helped" you. Geesh! That is their biz to help customers and provide them with honest and fair pricing. $1700 to remake the head of a ring is outrageous and highway robbery IMO. I would never go into that store again.

Profit? That would be the only reason I could see if it is the EXACT same piece, made the EXACT same way by the manufacturer.
