Hi All,
After sitting on it over the weekend I decided to send the Asscher back.
It''s a beautifully cut stone with an incredible amount of fire. Even Marty Haske thought it was a keeper.
The problem was ME.
I spent the whole weekend talking to dh and posting on here about how I loved it, but would have to supplement it with a pave halo setting and a band from Signed Pieces in order to satisfy my sparklie fix, and to make it look its size. DH finally said to me "You mean we just spent $XX on a PERFECTLY CUT DIAMOND and it''s not doin'' it for you in the sparklie and size departments? Seems as though you should just get a round brilliant if it''s sparkle and spread you''re after." (boy, I guess he has picked up some diamond knowledge from my constant babble about NOTHING ELSE for the last three months).
And I realized, he''s right. So here goes:
Hi. My name is Elizabeth and I am a sparkle and size adict. I hit rock bottom this weekend when I had a perfectly cut square emerald in my hands, and it didn''t satisfy me. I was still jonesing for that sparkle, man. And, there I had a 3.14ct stone that was easily 1.5mm smaller in diameter than an RB of the same weight, and it was buggin'' the ever livin'' crap out of me. I know I''m shallow. I know it seems as though the hunger will NEVER be satisfied. But I promise, just one more fix ... just one more try, and that''ll do it for me. I can walk away clean.
Until it''s time for a trade up
Honestly, I think it was something I had to go through. It was impossible to see a well cut Asscher in a local B&M around here. I knew everybody said it would look smaller and it wouldn''t sparkle as much. I just didn''t realize how much it meant to me until I had it on my hand and it was time to pull the trigger on the purchase. I think I''m with Mara in that once I have my sparklie e-ring all set, then some day I would love to look into Asschers for a RHR. Then I can dress it up as much as I like with a pave halo, etc. and make it look really cocktail ringy.
Anyway, even though it wasn''t the stone for me, I was still sad to see it go.
I''m sure poor Bob Haskins at White Flash thinks I''m nuts, but is way too much of a gentleman to show it (again, sorry Bob and thank you for your tolerance and you good humor). And Matin Haske probably thinks I''m just making up excuses to keep on visiting him
but I''m on to the next part of my search. This time, I''m back to the Round Brilliant universe.
For those who are interested, I''ll keep you posted.
Cheers,
LizzyD
