I''ve seen S-T colored diamonds and now have, or have had, some a bit higher in color and some a little lower. Honestly, when you get into this range, the colors can be quite distinctive for each stone – in some the tint is quite noticeable, others not so much; I''ve found some quite pleasing, and others objectionable. The cut has a great deal to do with the overall face-up appearance. And, I''ve found that different lighting conditions can make quite an impact on what you see in terms of color characteristics, even from moment to moment. You really need to evaluate each stone in person, or work with a professional whom you trust. Some people love these colors (especially for their value) and others can''t stomach them. For the most part, I like to see the warmth of the tint encouraged by mounting in yellow gold. You can, however, try to push the tint by contrasting the diamond against higher colored diamonds and white metal, but, IMO, your yellow or brown tint will still appear quite faint.
I''m in the camp of fans of S-T color.
If we''re speaking of GIA grading it''s a split color called S-T.
In terms of the look, I agree with Rockit.
These faint yellow colors can take many different faces depending on things like ambient light, and the way the diamond is set.
But the largest facor in how apparent the color is is the cut.
In most modern RBC cuts, an S-T color will not show a lot of "yellow" per se.
In a radiant, or cushion, an S-T color can be a lovely faint yellow.
The stone in the photo was graded S-T color by GIA.
I''ve looked at the diamond in real life, and also at the photo. it''s a very good representation of how this S-T color looks in normal room lighting.
Without question, any photograph of any thing does not look exactly like the subject- if for no other reason the thing is 3d and the photo is flat.
But in many cases, the representation is good enough to give a very good idea, and that is the case with this photo.
grapevity,
your stone is very pretty. your set is as gorgeous as the stone. I like the way the melee color contrast with each other. Love it. Is that your RHR?
