Russian Spy Sub Off The Coast of Connecticut

I spent today with a friend at the VA Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. The Connecticut news channel in all the waiting rooms was blasting news about the Russian "spy sub" off the coast of Groton, Connecticut. The man whom I had accompanied to the hospital is a Coast Guard veteran who had served at the old Coast Guard Base in Groton. The people at the hospital, all vets and almost all Connecticut natives, had a lot to say about the sub being so close to our shore (albeit in international waters). Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut was on television saying that the Russians have been emboldened, first to have a missile launch, then to send this sub right off our shore, by Trump's acquiescence with everything Putin does. Yesterday the spy sub was off the coast of Delaware. I am no submarine expert (although there are a lot of them in Connecticut; there is a submarine base in New London), but some of the men said this sub was armed and was, therefore, actually a warship.) Don't come down on me if it isn't. I'm just reporting the news!) It was an interesting day.

As to the CNN link: what can one say? Trump surely make the United States safer, didn't here. I surely feel safer here in Connecticut with an armed Russian submarine sitting off my coast!

If you are saying that the Russians are here secretly and that we cannot see them because they are invisible, how can anyone argue? All I can say is that THIS sub has been SEEN. And in the PAST, many years ago, we used to see Russian ships, too. When they WANT to be sighted something is afoot. That is the case now.

People in Connecticut don't get on the television news over every darned submarine in the water. But the news was blaring non-stop today.

I have a lot of acquaintances and friends who work for NSWC--Crane and though some of us are tight (like BFF tight) they are strictly by the book when it comes to classified info. Seriously, I just asked one of them two days ago whether Stranger Things was based on Crane and I got a "can't confirm or deny" text back. And that was that. About a tv show!!!
