I think there is some exaggeration there. The Russians were so desperate for $$$ in the '80's that their entire system collapsed. Meanwhile, they had tons of diamonds that they decided to just ignore?

Right.

And what's the quality of these things? Industrial diamonds are the vast majority of diamonds in the world, maybe they will be using them for drill bits?

I read that story, and I'm pretty skeptical about the whole thing . . .
