Ok, forgive me I know you hate buying from Ebay but some of us have very little in the way of buget allowance!

What do you think of this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/1-52ct-Emerald-Cut-Natural-Pink-Red-MADAGASCAR-RUBY-NR_W0QQitemZ200261060312QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200261060312&_trkparms=72%3A1326%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I am convinced (as any sensible person would be) that it cannot actually be a real ruby at that price!?! Any suggestions as to what it is and do you think I could set it into jewellry? I love the shape, size and colour!

Thanks for all advice.

Why don''t you tell us your budget and specs, and we can try to help you find something?

Okey dokey, good idea! I guess our budget is rather paltry, less than $1000 really. I would LOVE a emerald-cut ruby of anything over 1ct and it mustn''t be too "pink" . I don''t mind inclusions - more focused on the colour. Being rather poor, I''m open to things that look like or have similar qualities to a real ruby. As long as its hard enough to set into a ring I''d be happy. My long term goal is to get it set into a right-hand ring with emerald-cut white sapphires on each side, perhaps for my wedding annniversary.

The ebay ones I posted above are exactly what I''m looking for, love the cut, size and colour and obviously the price! But I''m guessing it would be too good to be true that they actually are rubies...???

Any thoughts?

Probably a lead glass filled ruby. These are all over ebay for next to nothing prices. I would stay away unless you want a very cheap stone that looks nice in an inexpensive setting.
