This is a 9.9ct Rubellite pendant from Brazil set in 14k white gold. It''s unheated/untreated.
I''ve photographed it next to my 5ct Rubellite ring from Madagascar (also unheated/untreated).
Both have small needles and a couple of inclusions when viewed up close or magnified (as in these photos) but at normal viewing distance are eye clean.
Photographing the true colour has proved tricky but in real life I''m seeing a rich raspberry red with pink/purple flashes. In incandescent light the pendant appears more red. I haven''t seen any brown at all.
Should the pendant be a keeper - your honest opinions please? The reason I''m asking is that the pendant has cost me £585 which I think is around $800ish. I know it''s a bargain at that price but it''s still more than I can afford at the moment. However, if I send this back, I know (a) I won''t be able to get the same deal again and (b) at that price it''s deal of the century!!! So I need to think long and hard about this one and your valuable opinions are required!
So here are some pictures:
