Hi, new to the boards. My mom bought a pair of round diamond earrings. Each earring is a .75. Color is about a K and clarity is I2 or I3. She is considering returning them but wants to keep them if she got a good deal. She paid $400. She says they look good to the naked eye, but through the 18 power loop, she can see a few inclusions. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Welcome!

Oh goodness, the price is WAY too cheap, I imagine they are not attractive diamonds, cut is critical in order to have pretty stones - if the cut is good then even lower clarity and colour can look good but I very much doubt this is the case.... There are no deals with diamonds unfortunately, personally I would rather save the $400 towards a good pair even if they are smaller and I had to wait to save up more money. Did she buy them from an online auction? Also are they clarity enhanced do you know?

They came from jewelry television. the paperwork does not verify the cut and clarity. we were just taking our best guesses based on the price. she said the stones were actually very pretty on only through that loop thing are the inclusions visible. she''s just not wanting to return them if they are worth way more than she paid. by the way, thanks so much for your response. any other thoughts are appreciated.

Ya I agree as well. Tell her to return them and save the money towards a new pair that will maintain some kind of value or at least look good to the naked eye. I feel she over paid in my opinion. I1-I2 K color are worth nothing. I purchased my bride to be''s ring and just went back to the web site the other day and purchased a pair of earrings from the same guy. I got 1.25 CT Total weight, G color, SI1 rounds for $900. These stones are like fire! I personally wouldn''t purchase any stone under an SI rating. There is no value to them.

They won''t be, I assure you if they were worth more they would be selling for more.
