Today, I stumbled across something new. (Alright, new to me anyway)
Diamonds in the Rough. A 'rough diamond' set in a variety of ways to show off it's well, rough-ness.
Personally, Im not a fan of most of the jewlery on the site, but the rings DO look interesting. (The 'Embrace' is actually catching my eye)
After googling, I cant find hand shots. Ive never seen them in person. Im not really intersted in the price (8,000 ish for the bigger stones)
Not sure if this is more of a gimicky ring or a cool idea.
Anybody have any experience with this?

Some of them are pretty cool, I like the iceberg ones and several of the coctail rings. There is one called Covet, with pink diamond pave that is really pretty. I think the rough stones that have the natural pyramid shape are the most attractive, instead of the big lumpy ones.

I've never seen any in person though!

I have seen them in person and I think they are neat. The settings are the coolest part, in my opinion. I really like the ones with the darker diamonds (brown or black), because the closer to colorless ones just look dirty. I could see them making an interesting ering, or a great cocktail ring. They would make great conversation pieces!

I love the uniqueness of the jewellery. In fact it was this website and another poster on here that had a similar ring that inspired me to have a ring made from a rough diamond. The poster had an eternity type band studded with gorgeous multi coloured diamonds which was sooooooo pretty.

Anyway, I can't find photos of my ring (it's the rough stone mounted on a yellow gold band, held in place with a cross of gold going over it studded with diamonds). I have found a photo of the rough. It's so pretty and sparkly!

They are very cool!

The prices, though :knockout:

I have two rings set with rough that I love ... one piece of green rough around 8 carats, one white around 7. They're called "pearl" or ballas diamonds - I like them more than most other pieces of rough. Some of the "Diamonds in the Rough" pieces irk me, because I feel like with rough, you need organic designs made exactly for the pieces in question, contour by contour ... the "wrapping" effect feels formulaic to me. But the workmanship on the pave is lovely, to give credit where credit is due!

Love the white one - so unique! (and I don't mean 'wierd' :cheeky: ) The rock and setting suit each other ::)

Heheheheh - leave it to DF to introduce new terminology! And thank you! That's exactly what I was aiming for.

Do you often wear it? By itself - or with a band?

I've never seen rough diamond jewellery IRL - I think if I did I'd stalk the woman in question down the street :halo:

Circe, I adore your rough diamond rings...something very 'beyond time' about them.

I got the green for my 21st b-day and the white 6 months later for my college graduation. For the next 6 years, I wore them pretty much nonstop, the green on my left middle finger and the white on my right, and I felt like a sorceress. Then when I got engaged, it took me all of a day to figure out that wearing a rough diamond right next to an exposed girdle was a recipe for disaster ....

I tried alternating them on my right hand, but it just didn't feel "right," so I haven't worn them in quite a while. This thread is inspiring me to give it another shot and see! Curiously, I never did meet anybody who recognized them for what they were - lots of people asked, though. They're definitely conversation pieces.

Reader, thank you! That's just what I like about them - they're not quite barbaric, and not quite modern. Just right.

I'd sure think so 8) thanks for sharing! And yes, definitely worth another shot ::)
