What setting will enhance the pink/peach tones of the a colored diamond? A white metal setting with rose gold prongs, a rose gold head or an all-rose-gold setting?

Thanks!

Since I just had a brownish pnk diamond just set and since I''ve been lurking on the diamondsbylauren.com webpage, I have to tell you that I think a complete rose gold head with a white gold shank would be gorgeous with this stone. I''m so excited to see what plans you have in store for your beauty there.

TL, I have drooled over your pink diamond ring and it is gorgeous. I also caught this pic of Gisellem''s pink champagne e-ring and it is all rose gold. I hope she doesn''t mind me posting this. I am torn!!!

I think if you were to do a halo, then do a white gold shank and rose gold head. If you are doing a ring like Giselle, do it all in rose gold. Her ring is breathtaking. I believe she has 1.5 carats or around there. I think your stone would look fabulous with a DNA type rose gold shank if you didn't do a halo. I say a DNA type shank since your stone is so much larger than Giselle's. It also might be easier if you go that route since the stone is a wide cleftless heart and not a calibrated size.

Thanks for the comments on my little half carat stone. I think it will look like poo poo next to yours when it's done.

Oh, TL, I would trade my one measly peachy diamond to spend one day with your entire colored diamond collection

. But thank you for the kind words. I can totally see your cleftless-heart orange diamond in 18k yellow gold!

This is the setting I am thinking of. Can this work in all rose gold but with the white diamonds for contrast?

Here''s a side view of the setting I am considering.

PR your diamond has a very strong colour and I''m not sure it needs much help to make it stand out. Rose gold claws would look lovely but I personally wouldn''t go for a full rose gold setting as I think the diamond would then mould into the setting and the diamonds colour won''t stand out as much. I can''t wait to see the finished result!

This was kind of what I had in mind since it's a very wide stone, or a twisted double shank (like a DNA double helix)

Now, I haven't seen your diamond in person, but you said it is peachy grey. If there is any brown or grey in it, I personally would not set it in white gold, it might start looking more brown or grey then. You want to bring out the peach as much as possible.

Since the stone is very wide, I'm not crazy about the single shank look which tends to look better with more narrow pears. JMO.

Yes, my stone has gray tones. The setting you just linked is very pretty, however, I''m not into the split-prong or halo look style. I think it looks great on others, but it''s just not a look for me.

But thanks for the suggestions

I am really loving the full rose gold setting like Gisellem''s.

I will be sending my stone off on Monday!

Well, poll results told you enough already and some of the posters before me said it too - a complete ring in rose gold would make it "drown in the pinkness" and an all white ring might make unwanted tones more pronounced. Doing just the prongs in rose gold would not have much of an impact on the color, but it would (if nothing else) make the prongs almost disappear. So I have to agree that a rose head on a white shank for contrast would be the best solution.

I vote for rose prongs and white shank. My friend has a ring with a pale pink diamond, and the rose prongs really seem to help make the color pop. I have a few pics, but I don''t think teh color came out too good in them...

And a side shot.

I preferred the idea of a rose gold head and white gold body - I think it will give contrast better than having the whole setting in rose gold, and will really make the stone POP

Love her setting and stone! All rose will be gorgeous!

Gotta go with the full rose gold head! That would be stunning!

I vote for a full RG head with WG shank to help bring out your stones pinkness-it would be alot easier to work on for repairs/resizing later. I've been told that RG is difficult to work with and you need an awesome bench person to get the job done correctly.

I have 3, soon to be 4 rings with RG baskets/heads and Plat or WG shanks and also love the contrast :)

I do really love the all RG ring you posted with the champange radiant as well.

What are the the measurements of your stone?

Ladies, thank you for your votes and feedback. This was tough because I had to choose between what was right for my stone vs. what my heart truly wanted. The majority voted for the full rose gold head, and I agree. That really would make the stone POP. However, I can''t stop thinking about the full rose gold setting like Gisellem''s. It''s just so unique and classy. Something about the full rose gold with my peachy gray diamond just screams "YES!!!" to me. I am not a gold fan (especially yellow), but I am drawn to the richness and warmth of the full rose gold setting.

MustangGal, thanks for the photos. I love the contrast between your friend''s pale pink diamond and the rose gold prong. It''s beautiful!

Stepcutnut, I also love Gisellem''s rose gold setting too. She was my inspiration. My stone''s measurements are 8.10 x 9.74. It''s a cleftless heart shape.
I love the multi-colored stone in your avatar. What kind of gem is that? Have you posted pictures of your 3 rings yet? I would love to see them! I bet they are stunning!

My stone is off to my jewelers! It should be another week or so before the ring is complete.

Would you consider some white diamond melee on that rose gold shank, just to give it a slight contrast?

But if you''re keen on full rose gold look by all means get that, cause there''s no point in making jewellery you won''t enjoy wearing

Yes, there will be white diamond melee on the shank and gallery for contrast. And you are right, if I don''t love my ring from the start, I''ll probably end up changing it later on or not wear it at all.
