Three years after I initially joined this forum, I'm ready for my first post! Thank you for being so awesome and providing so much information for everyone to absorb!

I have a custom setting in the works and now I'm in search of the center stone. I had a PS vendor pull the following stone. I liked that it is an AGS000 stone but expressed concerns with its poor HCA score (despite countless threads on this, I still can't reconcile it). This has been described as "a gorgeous stone. Very eye clean. A lot of brilliance. We think AGS was correct in grading it a "0" for light performance." However, looking at the IS image, I'm not completely sold on this (kinda looks asymmetrical). What do you guys think? Can I do better (budget ~$9000)? Thank you so much in advance!

Stats:
1.282ct
AGS000
H/VS2
depth 62.2
table 59.2
crown 35.5
pavillion 41.1
HCA score 4.7
diameter 6.90x6.93

It's going to be beautiful. They have a great return policy. If you are that worried, have it sent to you. Walk around and live with it, take it to other jewelry stores for a week and then see what you think before having it set. I think you'll be very happy with it.

Thanks for your responses. Maybe I'm reading the idealscope image incorrectly, but it looks somewhere between good and very good in terms of light return according to the reference chart http://www.ideal-scope.com/1.using_reference_chart.asp
The symmetry also seems off, the lower half and the upper half of the table is not an even pink color. So confused, ha.

The image is tilted.

updated image without the tilt. looks much better, ha!

Not that great, actually, if that's not tilted. Don't know, some leakage under the table. Better than 95% out there. But not the cream of the crop.

OP - I think you can do ALOT better.

That IS doesn't look so hot. I'd let that one go.. especially with the HCA score and that IS confirms it. Here, HCA,IS> Trump the AGS 0. No question about that.

I would think with your very nice $9K budget, there could be a better diamond out there for you.

Alternately, I'd get this one: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.192-i-vs1-round-diamond-ags-104054247001 IS is beautiful

JA will provide an idealscope upon request. Make sure they are eyeclean before getting an IS.

@Gypsy, thank you for your suggestions. I was out of town for a few days but managed to put the 1.24H stone on hold and finally got the images back.

It's described by JA as:
You'll be happy to hear that upon inspection, our gemologist confirmed that this diamond will face eye clean to the untrained eye and that is has a true "H" color. It's also very bright and has very nice fire, brilliance, and scintillation. It has a gorgeous cut and as a part of our True Hearts Collection, it has been recognized for its perfect internal symmetry: something less than 1% of the diamonds in the world possess. It's highly recommended and I'm confident you'll be very happy when you see it for yourself.

I don't really like the IS image, however. I see some leakage around 3 and 4 o'clock. The 1.21H now also has an IS image on its page but is similarly not satisfying. I'm not sure if I'm being too picky, ha. I will keep hunting.

I did the numbers and images. I wasn't expecting to go for an I color stone, but was convinced it is very white, especially because of the smaller table (it's also $1000 under budget). The inclusions are twinning wisps and a natural indent near the girdle, but apparently that's okay too.

This is the one, right?

It sure looks beautiful in your photos! You've seen it in person and have fallen in love?

Looks lovely!!
