Rockdiamond.com? Any experience stories about buying from them regarding quality? I'm looking to purchase something from them, thinking it's a good deal (Which I have no idea about) and also thinking it's great quality (also unsure) and I can't find anything in the PS Testimonial forum when using the search on that website name.

Reputable? Any relation to RockDiamond the user? Experiences?

Thanks a bunch!

if it sounds too good to be true....RUN :!:

I have a ring I purchased from Diamonds by Lauren about 4 years ago. The stone was represented honestly and the pictures on their website of the stone were pretty much ttl. I was happy with my purchase and I wear the ring a lot.

Consider me warned! I just assumed (incorrectly) that this was PS user RockDiamond's site. :nono: I will continue the search! Thanks PSers!

It is.

You could ask through the site for pictures that you think will help you understand how the stone performs.

It is his site. A few posters here have issues with him for some reason and intentionally try to trash his image.

I've bought from DBL more than once and been happy with the results! My stone looks even better than the photos I recieved from him. You can always ask for more photos in ALL types of lighting as well as a video.

I think that was what was confusing me. Is it both DBL and Rockdiamond.com?

*just went to DBL* it looks like the same site, that makes more sense now.

Yes it is. In the realm of the interent, it is quite common for sites actually have more than one name regisetered to it. They all point to the same location in the end though.

A lot of times places aren't able to register the name they want at start up. Later on names become available so they take that up as well. Kind of like if you type in disneyworld.com you will get to Disney's site, but it isn't actually disneyworld.com you are on. They now have the Go network involved so they added it to the list of names you can type in and still get to their stie.

Or sometimes companies go through name changes for one reason or another and have both. That way old customers can still find it, yet the new ones as well.

So while it can be slightly confusing, it's not terribly uncommon as well.

ETA: I am not saying I actually know why DBL is also Rockdiamond.com. I have no idea actually the story behind it all. Just giving examples of things I know of other companies I have worked with beofore :)

Hi CInna,
Thanks to those posting actual experiences.
We do own both domains, and the site is currently occupying both. clgwli is correct.. kind of.
We first had the two sites as one was a trade site, the other geared toward the consumer. After a fairly short period of time we abandoned the trade site and both are now consumer sites branching off diamondsbylauren.com.
ccl, although he has never had any personal experience with our merchandise, does harbor some clear yet inexplicable resentment.

As he's brought up our photography, I'd confirm that we happily provide additional photos, or videos on request

This^^^^

I've never bought from him but hope to buy at some point in the future. All the experiences I've read about rockdiamond have been positive apart from 1 complainant in 2007 and the 4 posters here who seem to virulantly dislike him and are very vocal about it - although as far as I can determine none of the 4 have ever bought from him, so I dont quite understand the reason for their dislike.

If you have a stone you're interested in, ask for lots more photos (and post them here if you want) and then make your own decision.

The one thing I would point out is that you wont get precision cut H&A stones from him, but then he isnt selling "colourless" diamonds so that's to be expected.

agreed... while I have throughly enjoyed and often been helped by the advice/post form those authors, I am a little put off by their dislike of RD.

Anywho, I recently almost bought a diamond through RD. I plan to get something from him in the future. He was ever the gentleman, unbelievably fast and helpful in his responses, and was giving me an incredible price for what I was considering. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend getting in touch with him regarding any project. And if you need different types of shots or video, he is unflinchingly willing to oblige.

Well I hope this helps!

I've bought from David and have been (in this order):

A happy customer
An unhappy customer
A very very very happy customer!

I bought a diamond from David assuming from the description and our discussions that it would be one thing. So I was a happy customer. When it arrived, I realised that the description was a bit off the mark and the stone didn't live up to my expectations. I never said anything to David because quite frankly it was a pretty ring and lovely diamond.

There was then a thread on here talking about David's photography and his diamonds and I posted and said how my diamond, I felt, differed from the description. David realised who I was and sent me a lovely email saying that he was really sorry to hear I was unhappy and could we discuss further.

I got in contact with David and he realised that what I actually wanted was a chameleon diamond and not just one that reacted a bit with fluorescence. He had something in stock and did me a great deal (returning the diamond ring I wasn't in love with). My replacement diamond exceeded all my expectations and I am very very lucky to own it. I'm also a very very very happy customer!

On this forum David has different ideas to others. My take on this is that he sells predominately coloured diamonds which are assessed and perform differently from white diamonds. His posts (and the responses) have led to many many many heated debates. David certainly challenges the "norm" and whether you agree or not, it leads to some great debates.

Would I buy from David again? Absolutely. If I were looking for a coloured diamond - something special - he would most certainly be on my list to contact.

At the end of the day, you'll always find differing opinions but if you're concerned why don't you contact David, find out about his return policy and then, if there's a no quibble refund policy , you're not losing anything by having a look!

Good luck and I hope you find something lovely.

Hi All:D

I recently purchased a custom made halo for a diamond that I picked from Excel Diamonds from David from DBL/Rock Diamond. I also had the chance to view his inventory since I plan to purchase a yellow diamond sometime in the future from him. I found his pictures online verse what you see in person to be completely on point and accurate. Even if it wasn't..which it totally IS he has a great no questions asked return policy if you are unhappy with what you receive. Cinna, clearly there are people on this website who for some reason (I don't know the history) have a problem with David but I believe that those people are few and far between which you can clearly see if you go to **edited by moderator**. There are many, many people who have been pleased by their purchases from David and who are continuous repeat customers. I found him to be completely honest, competitively priced and he aims to please and I would not hesitate to buy from him at all,

I have nothing against David but posting of other forums is not allowed on here. Secondly, that is a moderated forum and I am sure the bad stuff wouldn't stick anyways. It doesn't take away from the good but I think no vendor has a completely clean record.

ah, yeah. Its common knowledge that the negative comments are swiftly removed from that board you mentioned Kiki...

I prefer transparency in my vendors' actions.

Cinna, you may want to consider DBL for coloured diamonds, if that's what you're after.
For white diamonds, I think there are a number of more favourable vendors in terms of quality of information, photographs, and cut education.

Thanks guys. It clears up a lot of things and I'll keep everything in stride. With my unsavy tech self, initially I was not sure if it was one of those scam sites or an actual authentic one.

I had checked in from time to time but didn't want to bump up the thread and cause any heated debates. My budget only allows colorless stones... and my preference runs to the D or E colored stones but I might give it a try just to see some sidestones from DBL/RD.com. Thanks again guys!!

What shape of sidestones are you looking for?
I'd suggest you make a new thread and ask considering all vendors for what you are looking for.

It is a good idea to receive comparables and compare apples to apples, for both beauty and pricing considerations.
