Hi all,
The salesman at the store (BB&B) where we''re purchasing our ring suggested that since the engagement ring we picked out cannot be resized, that we purchase one a size bigger and have ''tiffany balls'' put in. In this manner we can ensure that if my ring size changes [e.g. pregnancy] we can remove the tiffany balls and the ring will still fit.

Has anyone else done this? Is it a good idea?

A friend suggested as an alternate solution getting the wedding ring a bit big and the engagement ring the right size to hold it on...

My finger size changes in the summer. So in the past my jeweler has put in those little balls and in the summer he takes them out-no big deal. But on my current ring he put a little bar instead, narrower than the ring shank.I can't feel it at all and the balls can be a little uncomfortable.I guess it depends on whether you think there's a possibility your size will change. If it were me I'd go up half a size.

I'd go with the little ring guard
Which fits within the band

That way when your finger size varies
The diamond will stay on your hand!!

What kind of ring did you buy that can't be resized? Is it a tension set?

'tiffany balls', I never heard that term, I call them speed bumps. Whatever, they work quite nicely without altering the ring.

I was going to get sizing beads put in my wedding band but the bench jeweler talked me out of it. He said a lot of women compain that they're uncomfortable. He put in a bar as lulu described. It feels great. You don't notice it all.

Thanks for all the responses!

The bar sounds like a great idea; my boyfriend is going to the store tonight to check that out. It sounds like that might be more comfortable.

Lulu - is it much of a process to keep removing the balls? I was afraid it would cost too much to keep having them taken out and put back in...

Dimonbob - the engagement ring is a Ritani princess cut setting from the Endless Love collection. It has pave diamonds all the way around the band, as does the matching wedding ring.

Thanks again!
