Do I really need to bring it to appraisal to make sure it’s what I paid for? I bought it from WF so I guess they are reputable enough to just trust them?

Also, I think I got the size wrong. I was comparing the E-ring with her other rings last night and found it to be a little small. She has this Tiffany ring at size 4.5 which slides easily through the knuckle of her middle finger. However the E-ring is a size 4 and it looks crazily small that I can’t imagine it fitting on her middle finger…

I don’t really want to bother with fedex-ing it back and forth to WF to resize it but maybe just go to a local jeweler. Do you guys know of any reputable local jewelers I can go to in the SF bay area or Shane Co. is good enough? Do I absolutely need to leave it with the jeweler overnight for resizing? Needless to say, I am not too comfortable with that…

Which finger will she wear the ering? Size 4 should fit her 4th finger if her middle finger is 4.5.

Joe Escobar is in Campbell, so you can go there. But I wouldn't void my warranty to do so, personally, but it is your choice.

Yes, you may need to leave it overnight. Joe E is perfectly safe though. And Erik or Mia can do an appraisal for you on site. They aren't going to switch your stone and risk their reputations for a few thousand dollars.

Thanks for the referral Gypsy..will definitely call them up to see how much they cost…didn’t think about the warranty part at all so thanks for the reminder!

Hmmm…btw don’t you wear the ering on the middle finger before actually getting married and then move to the ring finger together with the wedding band when you actually get married? coz the size 4 might fit her finger comfortably but not her middle finger...

No you wear it on the ring finger always. The middle finger is almost always bigger than the ring finger - imagine the nightmare of having to size down a ring every time after the wedding!

The middle finger is usually 1 - 1.5 sizes bigger than the ring finger. I think you might be ok.

For reference, my ring finger on my left hand is just under 3 and my middle finger is around a 4 on my right hand. My right hand has bigger fingers because I am right handed (at least that's what I tell myself).

On the wedding day, people usually put the band after the e-ring (and then switch it back after because the band is suppose to go inside). Others simply don't wear their e-ring on the day of.

If a ring is sized for your middle finger, you are pretty much guaranteed that it will be too big for ring finger (slide off big).

Gosh I am so noob…I thought all along that you actually wear the engagement ring on the middle finger!!!

So if a size 4.5 can fit her middle finger easily, I think a size 4 for her ring finger should be sufficient. Just trying to avoid the ring being too small that she can’t put it on after I propose…that’d just be too embarrassing!!
