So I sadly returned my blue band! They refunded me happily and the story is now done!

I’m starting over!

What do you think gives the best look for stacking? Rules to follow to get the best look!

I’ve got my solitaire and was going to get a plain band. Solitaire is 2.2mm knife edge tapering down to around 1.6mm. Should I get the plain band at 1.5mm to act more like a spacer or 2mm to be more like a wedding band?

Then comes the bling band/s  so many choices!!

Feel free to throw ideas at me and share your ultimate dream stack!

Couldn’t agree more! Both are simply stunning!

@Bonfire and @LLJsmom gorgeous! Do you plan widths and thickness to match or did you just pick what you love and hope it works?

Yes, I love mixed metals, particularly rose gold with white metals! Stunning!

Love that one @SimoneDi am definitely considering that it, it’s so gorgeous!! Nice and low too so hopefully with a spacer in between there will be no chewing of the solitaire prongs!!

Would you get the plain band in a 1.5mm or try and get it matching the solitaire more with the 2mm? Dream band is 2.5mm wide!

I love mixing textures and shapes. So one might have milgrain, another might be engraved, or the band might have alternating marquis and rounds. Take a look at DK’s Etsy shop - he has a lot of affordable options there.

Also, I agree about height... try to keep the height the same, but width can vary slightly.

If we are talking about a spacer, I would personally get a knife edge 1mm spacer because they are pretty invisible. However, I am not sure if you will need a spacer. BGD can slightly enlarge the baskets under the stones as to not allow the diamonds to rub into the setting.

Thanks @ILikeShiny unfortunately DK doesn’t ship to Australia :cry2: otherwise I’d be all over it!!

Your stacks sound fab!! Please share some pics!!!

Can you post a pic of your ring?

As for do’s and don’t’s: I find that I don’t like when my stacks almost hit my knuckle. I have short fingers, so I’ve given up on stacking unless I have 2 very thin, 1 mm bands. And I have found that my ering should be only 1.8 mm to create this look.
I also don’t like symmetry. So I never do the whole one on top and one on bottom thing.
Finally. I don’t like when my ering tips over. I find that stacking pushes my ring as if it was tilted forward.
I think stacks work best when the stack sits flush against the ering. Yet. When the stack is flush, it blends in too much with the ering and I find myself missing the ring gap.
As you can see, I have not yet mastered the art of stacking!
I think stacks look awesome on others but not so much on me.

I meant to add too - I like different widths and metals mixed in a stack, but not really different heights of band.
Ditto. For example, these all look great to me:

Thank you @KirstLWA . I guess everyone is different. I really can’t stand differing heights. It triggers my OCD. Different widths are hard to make work because when the stones are bigger, the band needs to be deeper to accommodate the larger stones. And that necessarily means the height will be different. That is why I have Victor make almost all my bands. If not, I will wear all my bands with a potential new band to ensure that the height and width are the same before buying. The VCA. Perlee band happens to work. I don’t mind mixing metals. A different metal band is in my future.
I like a gap between my ering and the bands. I don’t like spacers that are small. I would rather get a Non-diamond band as a spacer.

His Etsy shop default says he doesn’t ship outside the US but I emailed to ask and they’re quite happy to ship to the U.K., maybe they’d be flexible about Oz too?

I don't have any suggestions as to which bands to stack in particular, but I will say that if you pair it with a band containing larger diamonds it will make your center stone appear smaller. Diamonds look larger when paired with a single thin plain metal (not much larger than the width of your ering) band. If you want to add another band, a thinner one is what I'd go for. I love texture as well.

So many beautiful stacks here. Thanks for sharing everyone.

So key is same thickness at the end of the day. Try and keep the height off the finger uniform and that should be a good start.

What do people prefer, say in a 3 ring stack in regards to plain band and diamond band with the solitaire or 2 diamond bands? I agree @nala I don't really like the look of the solitaire in the middle of 2 bands on me. I love the soli at the top. My ring is in my avatar but I don't have that band anymore.

I do love the look when there is a solitaire then shaped band then straight band like the one above @Maisie - bottom right and then @AnastasiaBeaverhausen top right.

Your stack is gorgeous @ILikeShiny thanks for posting.

Thanks for taking part and sharing everyone. Stacking is such a great trend that it is nice to have a discussion and see others ideas and thoughts. I find myself changing my preferences daily :lol-2: I thought I was all bling or go home but I am finding that this week I am preferring the plain band look.

This is my every day stack:B7E006C8-9815-48DB-84C3-0550A94E7C41.jpeg

I played at the jeweler’s, with mixed metals & patterns:

Stacking is so fun!!! :appl:

Gorgeous @Matthews1127 always love seeing your stacks.

Yes, it is so fun. It also provides birthday and anniversary ideas for years!! I can't wait to see what I settle on.

I've emailed David Klass to see if he will ship to Australia. Fingers crossed he does!

I would beg to differ very slightly - I think width/thickness can differ and look amazing but you have to have something matching across the stack for it to work and I think if that’s height, then it looks best. Check out some of @ceg’s stacks - she knows how to build a kickass stack and actually @Bonfire’s stack on the linked page is a great example of different thickness but matched for height.

What a fun thread!! :wavey: I agree @foxinsox, @ceg has major kickass stacks! I’ve said before that I don’t like jewelry *rules*. Stacks especially are a form of personal expression and sometimes story telling. To me the most eye catching stacks have a few elements going for them.
Proportion and harmony. Each piece has it’s unique character but harmonizes and balances with the group. You want each to play well together without looking like a thick mass of metal and diamonds. Or to upstage or compete with each other or the star of the show...the e-ring. It’s fun to try different looks as your mood dictates. Have fun!!! :P2
