Hi,

This is my first post. I'd appreciate any help I can.

I am looking for a settings that are like the ones found on antiqueengagementrings.com. Their quality looks good, and their prices seem reasonable. I would just go ahead and pull the trigger on one, but I'd like to look around more, explore all my options.

Please note that right now, I'm looking for JUST the setting as I am probably going to go with a family stone for it. The stone is between 1 and 1.5 ct round. I don't know the exact weight or size right now, but I am trying to find out this week.

I have looked at Jewels by Erica Grace, and while her settings are nice, I didn't see anything right now that really fit the bill. I have also looked at Beverly K, and there really wasn't anything that really caught my interest. Single Stone had the best stuff, but it is definitely above my price range, which is <$2k (preferable closer to <$1.5K for the setting). A little low, perhaps, but I think very reasonable.

I would the setting to be YELLOW gold with some some diamonds. No halo. No two-tone or white gold gold around the diamond area--ALL yellow gold. Rose gold is fine, too. Real antique or replica. Custom is OK as long as it's the price range.

These are the two settings I liked most. I think they can be made in yellow gold:

I live in Los Angeles and would love to be able to see the settings in person. I wish there was a place with tons of empty settings and I could just take my stone in and see what works.

Any leads? Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome! :wavey: I think the settings you've selected are gorgeous! I do think that your budget for a custom ring may be a tad unrealistic. Have you actually gotten a quote from Singlestone? If not, give Ari a call and see what he says. If you have and it's definitely over budget, I'd check out Gabriel and Co. They have quite a few vintage style settings.

Good luck!

There is a little place called The Rambling Rose in Orange- It's in the circle area. They are a tiny little corner/shop within a vintage shop there. You can find them on yelp. They having many, many antique settings- tons! They can also have them made or replicated. you may find something very similar to the ones you posted. They have so many real antiques but do replicate in the color you prefer if you like. They are reasonably priced as well. Find them on Facebook too-- you can see some of what they have on there. They do not advertise so much, but that Orange Circle area is full of antique stuff and this little place was just a find- the mom and daughter who run it LOVE what they have and do. They are full of info too.

That's gorgeous Cluless! I wouldn't want to mess up the setting by taking the aquamarine out, though.

Globalmujer, I am VERY excited about Rambling Rose! Do you think their prices will be in my range?

Thanks, Yennyfire. I will check out Gabriel.

When I went to check them out their prices were more reasonable than many I have seen. I was mainly there for old diamonds, but they didn't have what I was looking for. It' s worth a shot. I am one to negotiate anything. Express your budget limit and see what they offer. I grew up negotiating, people like it I find....most at least....if they are business people. its fun.
There was also this small jeweler around the corner near the Cuban place in the circle area that had some antique jewels too. More limited, but he is knowledgeable. He had some interesting things, but I think rambling rose may give you a better idea for what you are looking for if you like the 2 you posted. Let us know how it goes!

If you are open to a genuine antique setting, I would try Craig Evan Small on La Cienega between Melrose and Santa Monica. I purchased my antique setting from them and the price was very reasonable. They didn't even charge extra for setting my stone or sizing the ring. I would call ahead of time to see if they have anything that might accommodate your stone. You can also check out Ebay seller estate1920 -- they have a ton of empty antique settings.

To be honest, I purchased a setting from Antique Engagement Rings many years ago and the quality was not good. The prices are much better than you will find going custom at a place like Single Stone, but the quality was unacceptable to me and I ended up returning the ring. Based on that experience, I would not purchase anything from them other than an authentic antique ring and I know that they will not sell their vintage settings to anyone who isn't local.

Good luck!

SN Queens, hands down. You can def have a setting made for 1.5-2K there. They're located on Hill, with their showroom in the same building as Single Stone. They also have already-made settings, true and reproduction antiques, downstairs, one building over near the corner of the streets intersection.

Thanks for the tips, Demelza. Too bad AER didn't work out. If I lived in NY, I would definitely check them out in person.

Madelise, great. I will check out SN Queens.

No prob. :) they handmade their settings like SS does, too. CAD/CAST free. No extra charge for using single cut melee. That was big for me.
