Hi Folks

Bestie was a size 5 before she gave birth and now ring sized has increased to a 6.5 or so.

I enclose a picture of her engagement ring. Based on this style can this ring be resized or should she just buy a new setting for the diamond?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hmm this thread has me thinking. I’m about to resize my size 7 ring to a size 6.5

Maybe I should wait since I plan on having kids in a year or so... ?

If it helps @lagirlie my ring size remained the same even during pregnancy so everyone is different. But if the size 7 is serviceable for now then maybe wait and see?

Not sure I’d risk it with channel set shoulders p

@Austina I was 80% sure she can't resize but she's attached to the ring so I told her I'd ask the experts for her.

Off Topic: Did you end up getting a shared prong bangle by the way?

Will she lose the weight that she has put on? If yes, maybe can consider waiting...

About whether the ring can be re-sized, do the diamonds go all the way around? If yes then I think not.

She's waited 1.5 years and has lost body weight but the hands and fingers have remained the same (at the new size) so I think she's finally fed up.

You reckon they might shrink back in a few more years? I have no idea whether hands and feet will go down or not!

There are 8 diamonds on each side of the band so they don't go all around but go a fair way down.

No I didn’t, the plan was to go to WF in a couple of weeks, but I got Bella a few weeks ago, and I’d be seriously pushing my luck to get a bangle this year too

Losing baby weight does not necessarily reduce your finger size again, if it increased. My BFF went from a 4 to 5 with baby 1. She is still a size 5 and now is a fitness coach weighing less than her highschool gymnast weight and is in seriously crazy buff-good shape. The ring is unlikely to be sizeable given the channel setting. I'd plan on a new setting.

I would wait. Just tuck a little band next to the ring to keep it snug, for now. Sew what happens after you have kids.

I had really swollen feet during pregnancies and was up 1 European size but think I went back to pre pregnancy size after about a year.

For fingers, mine didn’t go down for the longest time (along with my weight) but this year I lost a bit more weight and my ring finger has finally gone down about 3/4 US size since.

So I think there is still hope depending on how close she is to her pre pregnancy weight.

For reference I gained over 20 kg during pregnancy (ikr) o_O so everything really expanded...

Not necessarily.

My ring size remained the same post pregnancy. Many people find that when they lose weight their fingers go down a size or two. Much depends on how much weight was gained during the pregnancy.

@mellowyellowgirl Has your friend finished breastfeeding? I found that nursing kept some water weight on me that didn't go away until I stopped.

@doberman yes she stopped 6 months ago.

Thanks ladies! I told her your responses and she is going to get a new setting when she gets around to it as it does not look like the fingers are shrinking at this point.

We might stick a coloured stone in the old setting for one of her daughters (she had twins!).

I never returned to my pre pregnancy ring size. I went up one size and stayed there.
