Resetting my oval sapphire into this Gabriel & Co victorian

I have been looking for a few years and finally settled on this Gabriel setting for my sapphire engagement ring. We ordered it through my local jeweler and it came in on Friday. Our anniversary is in June so it will not be set until closer to then and I won't see it until our anniversary (the "surprise" element). Hopefully we'll get the matching band later this year (unless dh surprises me ). I have enjoyed lurking here for over a year and admiring everyone's bling!

I do like the current setting except the band is too thin for the size of the stone (for my personal taste). We picked this up as an estate piece. I also had trouble finding a band to wear with it (a big gap and it rubs the basket).

I am going to keep the current setting and have a semi-precious gem set in it for my daughter when she turns 16 or 18. I haven't decided yet and have a couple years to mull it over. She likes blue topaz or I have seen some blue-green sapphires that are pretty. The setting will live on in our family and she will love it.

June seems like forever to wait for my new ring! I'm so impatient.
