I have a ring my grandmother gave me many years ago and somehow I lost the stone. Honestly, I believe the stone was a CZ, but the ring is 14 kt yellow gold. However, a couple of the prongs have been broken off and the setting is also terribly bent. Is it possible to have this ring reshaped and replace the stone with a high quality diamond or would the gold have to be melted down and made into a different ring completely?

Nobody can speculate as to what options are available without seeing the current state of the setting. A cornucopia of variables are at play here, including the skill set of the goldsmith. Do you have some photos of the ring?
