Every year I say I'm going to make something to put on my coat, but I never get around to it and wear a plastic poppy like everyone else.

I would love to see any Rememberance/Armistice Day Jewellery you have, and maybe get my ass in gear to make something for myself for next year. (it's not a terrible year to miss having something special really)

I have a little enamel one but I want a sparkly little pin. You’ve reminded me again. Am going to have to go google now.

I have my eye on this for Anzac day but im not sure I'd be brave enough to wear it - it's a bit flashy
(mind you its still dark for dawn parade)
its like something the governor general would wear
But i do love it.
It comes from Russia and before covid comments said it took a long time
I think they are made to order
I love the entire range il_794xN.1009310227_tq35.jpg

I appreciate your sentiment. Whether or not you try something new, that you honor Remembrance Day (Armistice Day) is lovely. I hope you wear your poppy with pride that you cared to remember fallen soldiers from World War I and veterans.

How did I miss this thread!? I have a rotation but I really really want a fine piece, that pave is just gorgoeus.

I did order some pieces from the poppyappeal website but they are shipping to a friend who will send to me. But still not fine jewelery kwim? I asked him to get me another paper poppy as mine is a very sad looking.

It's my current fave and the fact a friend got it for me without knowing I had been heartbroken over missing it was the best feeling

lovelly freind

is the shell casing in any way historic or significant apart from what it is ?

i have a UK freind who's dad was a commando and she (nornally) goes to lots of events and talks to the old boys a lot
i would love to get her one next year

I believe it was a limited edition run for the centenary, I got it in 2014. The paperwork says they were made from a tranche of WWI brass that was found, how they missed that much brass during WWII I don't know. It is dated and numbered on the back.

I just ordered a few items from that shop! Had them sent to a friend in the UK who will forward them on. Royal Post is much cheaper than their shipping. Ill be sure to share!

I know the Canadian poppies are rounder, what do the traditional poppies for Australia look like?

the movie director Peter Jackson paid/ designed them - they are perspex - i assume so its easy to clean
its on the main route to the airport from the city
