Red stone but photographs pink? Ruby?

Hi guys i recently purchased this ring from ebay for £40 it was sold as gold ring with red stone for scrap or repair, the stone is very beautiful very vivid red but when i try ro take a photo it looks pink which made me think it could be a ruby? Any thoughts? I took a photo next to an actual 0.27 ruby ring and a saphire & diamond ring for comparison. Also managed to get picture of one of the hallmarks through a loupe, the other hallmarks are EH possibly FH inside a rectangle and 585, Thanks for looking.

It could be any number of things, but without a gemologist to look it over, it’s impossible to tell.

Does it fluoresce red under a UV light?

In which case it could be either ruby or spinel. It may well be synthetic as chrono said too.

Thanks for looking guys there are no visible inclusions looking through a loupe so im thinking maybe its fake, what a shame.
I will take it to a gemologist just incase.

Interesting what i thought was a small 0.27 ruby in my other ring does not fluorece under the uv light but the stone in question does, it has a nice glow.

It's likely synthetic.

Synthetics have strong fluorescence, as do decent rubies, but the fact it’s cut well and it’s so clean, it’s likely synthetic.
