A diamond vendor in LA called me about my visit there a few weeks ago.
He had a .72 F SI1 that had a ~68 table and ~58 depth I think. I have seen it and it was eyeclean, but this was in the beginning of my Asscher quest and I didn''t know what I liked really.
Now that I told him to go look for 58-62% table and depth 67-72%, he also suggested getting this 0.72F recut (for ~ $160) to match my specs. It would obviously lose a bit of weight, but that is not so important. To me this sounds like an odd thing to do. Does anyone actually do this?
If I were to do this, how do you know that the cutter will do a good job? With there being so many poorly cut diamonds, what are the odds of some random cutter turning out a fantastic asscher?
I am pretty sure I won''t do this, but I wanted to hear if anyone has any experience of recutting.
