We are looking for a very sparkly rectangular radiant stone that faces us nicely and white with no bow tie of any sort... size just under 2ct (6X8??) to be placed into a platinum halo setting from Blue Nile. No visible inclusions. I am VERY COLOR sensitive since I am a graphic artist.

I don't like the band to go up on the "shoulders".

Budget is 17-18K for the stone.

THANKS SO MUCH

Thoughts on GIA 5236959456 ?

It's going to be a crapshoot purchasing a radiant from BN, since you will have no idea whether it will be a sparkly cut or not (it is impossible to tell from their images, numerical specifications, and even 360 video). Please post a link to the setting that you are considering -- chances are that a similar setting can be obtained from other sources.

Also, you should be aware that the radiant cut tends to amplify the diamond's body color, so you may have to restrict yourself to high color grades (D-F) if you are color sensitive.

Perhaps not as rectangular as you wish, but I remember seeing this radiant from Victor Canera that I thought was pretty and it comes with ASET and Idealscope:

Victor is running a special on it here, so it comes under budget for you:

He can definitely create a times better halo setting than anything that BN can produce! As a graphic designer and someone (presumably) with great attention to detail, I think that you will really be able to appreciate Victor's work. :)

Also, fancy cuts cannot really be evaluated simply by looking at the reports. Having an ASET image is helpful, but mostly, they need to be seen and examined in different lightning environments.

Should the feathers on the left edge be concerning? upload_2017-7-24_12-44-36.png

Many radiant cuts are cut deeper, but there are no ideal specs when it comes to radiant cuts. Many of the really well performing radiant have depths over 70. The downside is slightly smaller face up, but I find performance much more valuable vs face up size especially when it comes to fancy cuts. In my view, this particular one has nice faceting and the ASET looks promising. I would request some real life videos from VC. It also looks very white!
He has another one listed on LT that is less deep:

But I can see more of the color. Perhaps a side -by-side video will be beneficial?

It is a VS2 stone, the feather is an internal inclusion. It would not concern me, especially since you will be placing the stone in a halo. That is why we all have insurance.

Btw, I should say that I have a radiant cut that was cut shallow and while it has a decent face up for its size, the table literally serves as an open window into the stone. Really not an appealing look. So for that reason, I will take a well-performing radiant that is deeper any day of the week! :)
