Hello,
I posted here along time ago looking for e-ring help and got some really excellent advice, so I'm back looking for more.

I inherited a stick pin with a small (.25 ct) mine cut diamond. It's a decent stone, and I'd like to match it and turn it unto studs for my wife. Any recommendations for a jeweler in town that could do that? I know Good Old Gold is on Long Island, but we're on the other side of Manhattan, so it's a bit of a trek. Any other options?

Thanks!

Adam at Old World Diamonds can match it for you. He's in NYC and has the largest selection of old cuts.

idj - Yekutiel can source some. Give them a call.

I also recommend Adam at owd. He will scour his resources looking for a stone for you. And I believe he is much closer to Manhattan. Isn't GOG like an hour drive?

Thanks guys,
Indeed, GOG is at least an hour without traffic. Will try Adam. Any thoughts on what I should expect to pay for something around, say, h si2 miner cut? I assume less than modern, but I've been wrong before...

Also, do you like his settings? Or should I just look at stones?

When I was trying to find a diamond, Adam really tried to work with my budget to find me the perfect one. Just let him know what you want and tell him your budget and I'm positive he will find you something amazing.

I would start with finding a stone and be prepared that the cost of the settings and the actual labor of setting the diamonds might possibly cost more than the diamond. The price of the stone for sure will be less than a modern. If you do a search on ebay, you'll see some of the prices...I found a ring on there with three mine cut diamonds (one being near size and color/clarity as you're looking for) set in a filigree setting and it was $225 for the entire package deal.

No luck with Old World yet. Maybe they're taking a long holiday?

In the meantime, I noticed they use EGL to certify stones. I was always told to stay away from vendors who exclusively use EGL. Does GIA not certify old cuts?
