I know, at a time like this right? But we all have to find our own way to survive this and this is my way of removing 1 reason to go outside ;))

I'll be having my first quarantine birthday next week. Hubby mentioned he didn't get me anything and I thought maybe I can ask him for this.

There seems to be so many though and I dont know which one is actually good. As in, good selection of wine, not too pricy, or doesn't make you buy a case of wine. I'm the only wine drinker in the house. I'm considering Firstleaf. Anyone use it?

Anyone use any other service that they like?

If you’re anywhere near wine country, I would strongly recommend a club membership at a winery you like. The benefits are important; make sure it’s a winery that hosts good parties regularly and offers free tastings to members. It’s also nice to have a regular supply of wine that you already know you enjoy.

If you’re not near wine country, do you have any good neighborhood wine shops? They often have wine clubs, and many will host tastings in their stores as well. It’s great to build a relationship with your local shop because they can help you figure out wine pairings for whatever you’re cooking, and once they know your tastes they can recommend things they think you’ll like.

I’d only do the subscription wine clubs as a last resort. I think you’d have as much luck getting a good wine that way as you would if you went to the grocery store and blindly picked out a few bottles.

Many wineries have wine clubs. Look up your favorite brands and join their wine clubs!

I don’t live in the US but we looked at getting a wine delivery from a specialist company here- they are not taking any new orders and are mostly sold out! When this is all over everyone is going to be an alcoholic, I fear!

This would be a great idea, and I believe we do have some good wineries within maybe an hour drive from home. But in the current situation that we are in, I won't be able to really take advantage of ordering from the local vineyard, you know what I mean? Perhaps when all this is in distant past I'll consider this option.

Tons of big liquor stores around too but I'm trying to avoid unnecessary trips, plus I'm not that well versed in wine so I always feel lost in the big store with large selections.

Happy quarantine birthday next week @Babyblue033

FYI:
Missy, as always thank you so much for great info. I actually decided with one of the companies mentioned in that article, First Leaf. I was debating between them and Vinebox, getting to try more variety of wines without ending up with a full bottle sounded very appealing, but in the end I decided I can totally go through full bottles during this fun times! Can't wait to get my first 6 bottles!

I hear you, it's similar story with any of the grocery delivery services too. I guess between the surge in people wanting to order things and companies dealing with limited workforce, more and more it's getting more difficult to get things delivered.

Well at least I'll have plenty to keep myself busy starting next week! I plan on drinking in the middle of the day, after lunch, in between meetings, just to keep things more interesting around here. LOL!

May I ask why not? I’m also about an hour’s drive away and I’ve been getting deliveries from wineries. A lot of them have discounts on wine, shipping, or both at this time. I figure whether you order from a winery or subscription service, there’s a human being packing the wine so one is not riskier than the other.

Yay! I am so excited for you. Please come back and let us know your thoughts. I hope it brings you some cheer during this less than joyous time. And we will get through this. It might be a slow slog but eventually we will get to a better place. Fingers and toes and everything crossed. In the meantime enjoy!

Dry farm wines is a clean wine delivery service. I have a recent email that they are still taking orders for shipment. Don’t know how far our arrival will be...

Sorry, I meant more about taking advantage of wine tasting events and such you can enjoy from being local. Since it will be awhile before things return to normal, I figured subscription service will fill my needs for now, at least let me try more variety that I might not try otherwise. I'm a very, once I find something I like I stick with it, kind of person. Haha.

Thanks. I'm excited to get my first shipment and hopefully it won't disappoint. Yes, even though this is totally a unnecessary luxury right now, we all can use a little joy to get us through this trying times.
