I am considering a SEDU something 6000 that I've been hearing is great but super heavy. I want something that is going to get my super dense hair dry quickly but without making it rough and frizzy and otherwise ew. I don't blowdry often but the one I have now, probably some conair or something, isn't doing it in a timely fashion. I shower at night so I often wake up still with wet hair, and I am trying to put an end to that.

Ive been reading a lot of negatives about T3 and that they die easily and often, so I am ruling that brand out. I've heard similar about CHI, but nothing much about FHI and I have no idea much about that brand.

So...anyone do this blowing their hair dry thing that has info on a higher end dryer?

I love my Chi. My first one did die but that was after about 3 years of daily use. It's the same one my hairdresser uses. If its good enough for her its good enough for me!

Eventhough you don't like the brand, I've had my T3 ionic dryer for several years now and have never had any problems! It drys my long hair in less than 5 minutes which is a time saver for me!

Loving my new John Frieda. It's awesome. Super fast and light weight. Have a bad neck so have to have one that blasts but isn't like holding weights above your head. I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. You can try them out there, which I love...

I have a Jilbere from Sally's and love it. This is my second one. It's light, 2000 watts and has an extra long cord. I will probably never buy another brand.
(Remember to keep the air flow going down the hair shaft to keep the cuticle flat.)

Love my Chi! I kept my receipt and did have a problem with the case. Sent it back and got a brand new one after a few months. It is lightweight and dries my hair quickly!

Ok I just checked what mine is, and it's a Jilbere Nano Ceramic from Sally. And it to me sucks. It doesn't get my hair dry in any sort of timely fashion at all. Seriously, my hair air dries in about the same amount of time as this thing takes to dry it(assuming I am not laying down obviously). And usually my hair is a rats nest when I use this thing, no matter how controlled the airflow.

I may have to go play with this stuff I guess. Test them out a while or whatever. I mean the ones I am looking at are in the $150-$200 range so I don't wanna be wasting the money.

See that's what I am scared of. What if I get this thing, it dies and the place doesn'tw ork with me. I have no idea how well Ulta handles this stuff. Nordstrom would take it back no questions.

I've purchased 5 or 6 professional blow dryers in the last 6 months. I have the same problem as you, it takes forever to dry my hair and the higher wattage dryers are too heavy. The light weight ones have lower watts and I dont have 20 mins to blow dry-- I want it done in 10 mins, my hair is bra strap length and medium thickness. I bet it only takes 7 mins to dry.

Let me run upstairs and get the make/ model off the one I love. BRB....

This one is sold at Salon Centric (professionals only so you might need to ask your hair stylist to buy it for you): Hot Tools Ionic. Its pinkish purple. It's a travel size, so it's lightweight. I don't see the watts on it but it's one of the best for drying hair quickly without frizzing and making my hair feel dry. I used to think the ionic was BS, but there does seem to be a very noticeable difference as far as my hair is concerned. Amazingly enough this was the least expensive hair dryer I purchased and I liked it the best!

I have very thick wavy hair, and I use a Revlon RV544 ionic dryer, which does the job well!

I have super long, fine but tons of it, hair, and have been using a Rusk something-or-other from Ulta for the past uhhhh 7 years! It will not die. It's dinged up and abused-looking but just won't quit, which is unfortunate because I'm kind of in the mood for a new one. Will continue to watch this thread for reviews! Sorry I'm not more helpful, Ame.

Hi ame,

I love my dryer, and I was picky about what to get. My good friend is a professional stylist, so she took me to a trade store and this is what I got:

iTools BioIonic Whisper Light

Three heat settings, cool blast, truly lightweight (I had a Babyliss Pro before this and I could only dry for 1-2 minutes before having to rest my arm. With this one I can spend 10 minutes straightening my hair with no arm fatigue), and powerful. Oh and quiet!! When I use other ones now I can't stand the noise and realize how good I have it with this one. I wondered how much can performance vary until I got this one, too. I have lightweight wavy hair, it wants to be neither straight nor curly, and there's a ton of it, so it is a hot mess if I don't *do* something with it. I went to a bob style and needed to straighten while drying, and I don't have time to flat iron afterward. The Babyliss still left my hair bent; this one, stick straight in half the time.

I highly recommend it!!

Excellent. I will check all of these out. And their weights. I am not a weightlifter!

I did not go back and deal with the salon I bought it from. I contacted Chi directly for a replacement. They were a dream to work with. I had purchased a salon level dryer and once there was an opening in the case, I decided to contact them. The dryer I purchased was a bit heavy with a very heavy duty cord as it was a professional level model. I asked if they could replace it with a comparable cost level home dryer that would not be so heavy to use. They were very accomodating. The high end ceramic dryers produce less frizz in my opinion and the manufacturer was easy to work with so I was glad that I spent the money on the dryer (and was sure to save my receipt!)

ooh, I wonder if I should get a new dryer. I have the BaByliss Pro Ceramix Xtreme and it works well and it's worked for YEARS, but it is heavy. I have to take breaks while drying my hair. It's the only blow dryer I've had that hasn't died on me, though. I've had it for at least four or five years! ETA - I would for sure keep it as a back-up because before buying it, I had gone through MANY Revlon and misc ones because they would abruplty quit working in middle of a blowdry.
