Recipe/cooking contests

Have any of you ever entered a cooking or recipe contest? I watch them all the time on the Food Network, and I love them! I love to cook but I''ve never been a recipe cook. I like to experiment with this and that and I don''t think I''d call my dishes original. It''s more like recreating mom or grandma''s recipes without written instructions. I''m thinking about entering the Pillsbury Bake Off this year. I''d love to hear your thoughts and experiences if you have any!

I will! I''m going to try out one of my "recipes" tonight. FI thinks I''m crazy...but I have all this free time and nothing (other than resumes and wedding planning) to do. Why not cook or invent recipes?
