Hi All,

I just received the analysis for my recut. I was a little bit surprised that it went from 3.47 ct to 3.092. I have not discussed the analysis as yet with Mr. Gavin. I don't know if it is too much carat weight to sacrifice. Looking for some thoughts on the matter prior to my discussion with him. I will upload attachments for you to look at. I will appreciate your feedback. I am quite the novice and think that a great cut will trump the carat weight loss, but not absolutely certain. Thank you.

Please repost in Rocky Talky! It is much more active.

As long as it stays over the 3 ct mark, you're fine. You should be thinking of all the loss as "dead weight" anyway. A lot of it was in the pavilion, so it wasn't weight you were going to see. It is going to just be 6.25% smaller in spread than before.

I think I veer towards not re-cutting because your idealscope pre-cut shows a lot of red so good light return. I don't know
enough about this though so this would be something I would ask Brian Gavin's opinion on. If most of the weight was in the pavillion then you would not be losing much in diameter anyway so maybe he would say the diamond would look better. I would be tempted
to keep the higher carat weight though.

You are going to discuss with him though so I would most probably go with his advice.

I don't know a lot about recuts but from what I have read that seems reasonable and as Julie said it's mostly in the pavillion.. it's still 3+ carats so you are over the magic number.. I would do it.. BUT that is just me... I would bet it will shine like a star !

Pyramid, that is an arrows picture.
