Haven't gone in to see it in person and ask if I can swap out the center diamond for something better, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a white gold setting like this one. I've searched for bypass settings but I haven't found anything with 3 stones. Found a solitare that I liked, but I gotta have 3 stones.

Any ideas?

Would Zales be willing to upgrade the center stone to something better, and would they "credit" the existing stone?

While the setting is nice for sure, i would also me concerned about the quality of the side stones as well. If you must have the setting though, you can call and ask for it without the center stone.

Good Luck!

Blue nile has some similar but with a different head on it...

EDIT - I know this is a little late but as far as searching goes I dont think that setting is a typical by-pass setting (even
though it says by-pass in the write up).

Funny, I stumbled upon their website and saw this exact setting. I do really like it even though I perfer the one above. I'll see what Zales says about upgrading the stone or purchasing just the setting without a stone.

Otherwise, the blue nile ring is my backup plan.

That's a very pretty ring. I'm not sure if Zales will sell you just the mounting, but it can't hurt to ask. However, you mentioned that you want a three stone ring, and I wanted to make sure you know that the picture you posted is not a three stone ring but a ring with three-stone clusters on each side.

Re: Really like this Zales ring setting, but the diamond is

I wouldn't buy it from Zales just because I won't be happy with the side stones on the setting. I suggest you contact Whiteflash or BGD to get quotes for custom making the setting.

One of my sister (sorority) just got this ring. It's beautiful in person, but I totally agree the center stone is a bit lack luster.

I hope you can upgrade the stone : D

Re: Really like this Zales ring setting, but the diamond is

I would ask a PS vendor about making something similar. I don't trust the quality of any of the diamonds in this Zales' ring. I wouldn't shop at Zales to be quite honest especially when you can use PS vendors and know in detail the quality of the cut of diamonds and all other aspects of them. I don't know if they would be willing to upgrade the stone but they would have to prove to you that they did, they'd want to charge you for it, and the side diamonds probably aren't any better quality than the center stone.

Re: Really like this Zales ring setting, but the diamond is

You're right. I said three stone because most if not all the sites I've looked at so far show the cluster type rings under three stone

I'm new to this site and didn't know there were vendors that could possibly make a custom setting like this. I'll look into it. Thanks for the help

Re: Really like this Zales ring setting, but the diamond is

I would definitely ask to get it custom made. It's very pretty but not something that any competent bench couldn't remake.

I would call it a modified trellis design, you might try searching around with that term to see if there's any stock settings out there similar (not sure why they call it a bypass design, that's a pretty specific term for a style popular in the late '40s/early '50s and quite different than this ring). That crossover prong design is a trellis setting motif (like Tiffany's Lucida).

But, I would suspect you would have to get it custom made. At least it isn't super ornate or covered in pave, so it shouldn't be wildly expensive to get custom made. Personally I'd get several quotes on custom from a good net vendor (Brian Gavin Diamonds, Whiteflash, Good Old Gold etc.) and then source the center stone through the same vendor, if possible. All of those vendors have their own signature super-duper-fabulous cut RBs, but also can source from the big virtual lists too (that, say, Blue Nile uses for example) if you don't want to spend the premium on a superideal cut.

I wouldn't go through Zales. Even for a setting. Their prices are just too high for the quality in most cases IMO.
