I have a couple cheapie stones that were just set today. Yes, folks, these spessartites are no where near being mandarin. Not only that, they are blatantly slightly orangish yellow. However, they have incredible sparkle and were too inexpensive to pass up. Clearly native cut, no idea of origin and they measure 6 mm each. I hope nobody passes out at my ear shots.

These are set as charms in a martini setting to allow as much of the pavilion to be seen as possible. I use my leverback earrings to switch out the stones to whatever colour I fancy for the day/week.

Don't be afraid to tell me that they are yellow because yes, they are. I don't know where they are picking up the brown though.

Please be kind when commenting about my ears. :cheeky:

I also picked up my blue sapphire that I purchased from Tan. It's a 1 ct unheated blue sapphire which is set into an antique Art Deco platinum setting. Yes, the diamond melees are single cuts.

Hand shots. I apologize for the poor quality pictures as I just took these indoors at night.

I debated whether to post this close up picture. ;(

A last one with the trio for those who've always wondered how blue looks next to something sort of yellow/orange.

It is ok, even good to load up on some less fortunate spessartites. They're fun, colorful, you dont have to worry about them and no one who sees them IRL would know that they maybe aren't so photogenic! The sapphire ring is wonderful. great color and the setting with single cuts is actually, um, perfect for it. So how many unused, spare stones DO you have? :naughty:

Love the earrings and ring! I've been out of the loop for a few months now, sounds like you guys have found some new gem dealer? looks like a great sapphire!

Very well indeed is the answer! These are lovely and look so good together.

Just because they are not "ideal" color, does not reduce their prettiness. I, for one, like the yellower spess almost as much as the darker orange ones. Bonus that they are not ideal and cost less! I love that setting, by the way, and the blue and gold together match Largo, my macaw!

Oh, Gosh, I am known for liking just about anything, but I have to say

I REALLY LOVE THOSE!!!!!

I LOVE that color Spessartite, the earrings are gorg, and the
ring is HEAVENLY!!!!!

Chrono,
Your sapphire ring is delicious!! :lickout: I may not be a fan of corundum, but I wish I had that stone!! The earrings are very pretty, and even though they are yellowish orange, they are still nice. I happen to like yellowish orange spessartites, as long as there's no brown.

The earrings are lovely, you don' t have to have a top color to have a pretty piece of jewelry. I love the sapphire and that setting, it's very, very elegant.

Those are so pretty Chrono! The spess' look so sparkly and I absolutely adore the color of your sapphire! They do look really good together. In fact, last night I was playing with my gemmies and I put the hauyne next to the spess and :lickout: Oh my goodness, it's a great combo!

It's good to have a range of gemstones! So what if the Spess aren't the premium colour - they're fun, colourful and look pretty on your ears (which are absolutely fine by the way)!

The Sapphire is very pretty and looks luminous. Wasn't this the one that Tan thought was just under a carat but when it came back from the lab it was just over or was a perfect 1ct? Whatever, this is a lucky find and very pretty!

Enjoy wearing your newbies.

Those turned out lovely! They look perfect on you too!

VL,
Your post is always funny as usual. I do have at least a dozen unset stones but am not quite in a hurry to set them. I'm the type who is happier enjoying them in their little boxes.

D&T,
Thanks. The sapphire was my first eBay purchase and I was incredibly nervous. The spessartites were purchased from an acquaintance.

Lisa and Largosmom,
We don't see the combo of yellow/orange and blue often but I think it is quite interesting in a good way.

Shiney, Kismet and CCN,
You are much too kind. Thank you. These garnets sure sparkle a lot and against my dark hair, they really stand out.

TL,
And I wish my sapphire is at least 5 times the current size. Yes, I know I've been preaching that with good colour, a small size doesn't matter but who am I kidding?

Brandy,
Where are the pictures of your hauyne/spess combo? :nono:

LD,
Yes, this is the 1.00 ct sapphire right on the dot but came back from AIGS as 0.99 ct. On the plus side, I was sold this blue sapphire as heated but it came back from AIGS as unheated, which I think is an excellent value.

It is pouring outside but I tried to take better pictures this morning.

Here you can see the profile of the earring setting.

I wish my sapphire is 5 TIMES larger than this.  The colour is so rich that it keeps catching my eye when I'm wearing it. It might only be 6 mm but I feel self conscious about it because it just screams.

Really pretty pieces Chrono, love both of them. That sapphire realy does have great color... if it's too small for you I will gladly take it off your hands!

Chrono, those earrings look so pretty on. I love the color of your sapphire too, very pretty pieces!

Good try, Deia. You'll have to attempt to pry it off my cold fingers first.
Thank you, Burberry. You are always so sweet and kind.

I think the spessartines are bright and fun and well-matched, and the sapphire ring is stunning. I love it!

Well I love both these pieces, but that sapphire... wow. It's stunning! And your ears are fine

You have "petite" adorable ears Chrono!!!!!

Those earrings are really beautiful! As always, you have great taste! :appl:

I finally get to see this sapphire in the Art Deco setting!! :appl: It looks very classic and beautiful.

I also love the spess earrings, they're quite stunning in the leverbacks. They look like they're really fun to wear!

Very pretty. I've always said that you are quite the stone selector.

Well, first you don't like your hands and now you don't like your ears. Stop that. :cheeky:

Another thing that I love about the sapphire ring is that the stone looks original to the ring. I love the cutting on it, and it's just lovely.
