So i''m browsing around and wondering if I should even fret about certain carat weights. Is there really a difference (noticeable) between .63, .7 and .72? Is it worth the hundreds of dollars?

Also, fluorescence is said to not big a huge deal on this site (if I interpreted it right?). Does this mean I don''t mind a strong fluorescence, even with a D or G color?

Also, is it true with a good cut i won''t notice the difference between D and G?

So i'm browsing around and wondering if I should even fret about certain carat weights. Is there really a difference (noticeable) between .63, .7 and .72? Is it worth the hundreds of dollars? Weight doesn't always translate to face up size so compare actual diameters. With well cut stones there probably wouldn't be much visual difference if any between these weights. Also see this link http://diamonds.pricescope.com/spread.asp

Also, fluorescence is said to not big a huge deal on this site (if I interpreted it right?). Does this mean I don't mind a strong fluorescence, even with a D or G color? Colourless diamonds are sometimes discounted for fluorescence, rarely strong or very strong blue can make a diamond look cloudy but this is rare and a trusted vendor will be able to advise. This is not the case with medium or faint, no need to worry with these levels.

Also, is it true with a good cut i won't notice the difference between D and G? To answer this I will assume we are discussing excellently cut stones with proven proportions, generally speaking the average person won't normally notice a difference between reliably graded D and G colour of excellent cut and similar size, however you might get a person whom is colour sensitive that might on rare occasion. Best to check out similarly graded, cut quality and size diamonds in person if you are unsure of your colour preferences. Also what is meant with a good cut? Cut labels don't always guarantee you a well cut stone, so evaluate each diamond with care on its own physical and visual properties.

Also, is it true with a good cut i won''t notice the difference between D and G? Generally speaking the average person won''t normally notice a difference between reliably graded D and E colour of excellent cut and similar size. Best to check out similarly graded, cut quality and size diamonds in person if you are unsure of your colour preferences.

Brian

Given a quality cut and the visible carat weight being .1 difference, is that really noticable?

Sounds like fluorescence can sometimes be an indicator of cloudiness, but it could be eye clean.

With color, assuming Ideal cut, will I notice a difference between D and G?

Sounds like fluorescence can sometimes be an indicator of cloudiness, but it could be eye clean. VERY rare cloudiness is an issue and only in strong or very strong blue, but this is very unusual.

With color, assuming Ideal cut, will I notice a difference between D and G? I doubt it, best to look at some similar diamonds in person, I would suggest AGS0 from Jareds or Hearts on Fire, compare similar size and colour graded stones in person to see if you can see a difference. Also I will post a colour video for you, use it as a guide only as computer monitors can vary plus your own preferences and tolerances can also vary.
