Hi all,

Went to a reputable jeweler and made a refundable deposit on this diamond.

GIA Certified
1.62 Carats
G color
VS 2 Clarity
Thin to Medium Girdle
Polish and Symmetry are both Excellent
Measurements: 6.48x6.42x4.55
68% Table
71% Depth

There are a couple of small cloud inclusions and crystals in the diamond.

With a GIA VS2 clarity do I need to worry about the inclusions? It's my understanding that 'cloud' inclusions are best for princess cut stones this big and that the naked eye is unable to view VS 2 inclusions. What if the stone gets dirty from day to day use? Will I be able to see inclusions with the naked eye?

The jeweler says this is an ideal cut, but I'm not sure how to judge that. It certainly looks like a great stone to me. Any thoughts on the cut of this stone?

Is the girdle too thin? I'm using a four prong platinum setting, and have been told to stay away from extremely thin and very thin girdles.

Thank you so much for your help!

you should not be able to with VS2 but you should carefully examine the diamond from all angles to make sure. if it gets dirty, clean it :)

there is no way to judge without pictures or ASET images.

thin should be OK but I would get your stone insured.

Thank you so much for your help!

Anyone else? Appreciate all the help.

Thanks!

I completely agree with all of slg's comments. Whilst the numbers look fine, you cannot judge fancy cuts on numbers, I've personally seen a princess that had perfect dimensions etc just was dark and dead. I would recommend taking it/having it released to an appraiser who has an ASET scope to judge its light performance (how much it will sparkle).
Good luck.

Only way to know is if you get pics and ASET
