ok.. so ive been trying to figure out what to wear tomorrow..

Ok so.. I have a red dress ive been dying to wear.. BUT the bridesmaid dresses are a color of red... is that okay??? I mean I was planning on wearing a black shrug with it...

If not... All I have is a black dress that I think would be appropriate and fits.. all of my other dresses are a lavender.. which i dont think goes well with a winter wedding.. or they dont fit...grrr...

Thanks in advance! :-)

i dont see anything wrong with wearing the same color. What if the bridesmaids had black dresses, think of all the disappointed women who couldnt shake their thang in their little black dress! I think the only one big no no is do not, i repeat DO NOT wear a white dress haha

if you know what the BM colours are don''t wear it, I know people who knew and have and they are still being talked about however if you didn''t know and happened to wear the same colour then no harm done.

If you want to wear the red dress, wear it. I think the black shrug sounds nice, and it will make your outfit look different to he bridesmaids dresses

I probably wouldn''t wear it if I knew that the bridesmaids were wearing the same colour.

I struggled with this for a summer wedding I went to. I knew I would feel uncomfortable wearing the same color as the BMs so I settled on a different color. I would just wear the black dress if I were you.

I agree. I don''t think you should wear the same color as the bridesmaids.

Hi
I also wouldnt wear the same colour as the bridesmaids, although check the shade of red, is it different enough?

I''d probably wear it. It''s obviously not the same dress, so people won''t think you''re a BM just because you''re in the same color.

I once used an informal, but still previously used as a bridesmaid dress, dress to a wedding where I didn''t know the couple well enough to know their bridal colors only to find I my dress was the same exact color and a similar style to the bridesmaids dresses. The entire night I felt awkward because more than once people did confuse me as one of the bridesmaids, (there were about 6 of them so the fact that I wasn''t up front was easily forgotten). I''m sure the couple had more photos of me than the average guest, as the photographers often confused me as well...I haven''t heard backlash, and maybe the bride didn''t even notice, but I was aware of it...

Alternatively, if YOUR dress is clearly nothing like the bridesmaid dresses, and just happens to be a shade of red...I don''t think there is anything wrong with that.

thanks everyone! I ended up wearing one of my bestys that was too big... and when i got there.. i realized i totally could have worn my red dress... I was planning on it because I didnt think the BM dresses would be similar at all (and they werent) but my FI told me he didnt think i should look hotter than the BMs.. lol he is so sweet huh.. hahaha.. but it was actually bad i wore the other dress because i forgot it had underwire and i was supposed to be wearing it yet because of my surgery.. and we had to leave early because i was so uncomfortable ....blah... but it was a beautiful wedding! Ill have to post some pics! :-)

I went to a wedding recently and I wore the same color (brown) as the BM's but the fabric was iridescent and it was a shorter dress. The BM's dresses were a brighter shade, evening length and satin finish so I didn't look like them at all....

Sorry to hear that you were uncomfortable....

it''s just a party!

People seem to get all up in arms about random things when it comes to weddings. I''m sure someone at the wedding will notice/care, but chances are it won''t be the bride OR groom OR wedding party. If you care about other people there, then you can play it safe with something else. Otherwise I''d wear whatever you want!
