Question on wedding band rubbing against engagement setting

I have a quick question for the board on whether or not a setting like this will sit okay with a wedding band. I am going to be doing a 9 stone wedding band with a setting like this. You can see that there's a little bezel setting for a little diamond detail on the side. Will the diamond band cut into the bezel on the side? Would it be smarter to just wear my wedding band on a separate hand?

Probably will unless the wedding band is specially designed to compliment that e-ring design.

I think you should custom make your wedding band, so that they'll fit perfectly against each other. Are you planning to do that?

Second the custom band suggestion. It looks like it should be pretty easy to do, just a little divot for the side bezel. Come to think of it, if the custom person can manage to get them to interlock, then it would really help with any spinning issues that you may have.

Re: Question on wedding band rubbing against engagement sett

They said they could custom design it for me with filigree to mach the engagement setting - but I have 9 small heirloom diamonds I would like to use, so I was just thinking of doing a shared prong setting for the stones? The engagement ring will be set with a heirloom center stone as well. That's why I'm going with this vintage look.

Re: Question on wedding band rubbing against engagement sett

Depends on how much the diamond girdle protrudes outside of the w-band too, it is the girdle that is going to do the most damage to the e-ring.

Re: Question on wedding band rubbing against engagement sett

I just wished I like the channel set or bezel set look. There's a definite gap between the rings when I try the sample setting on with a shared prong band.

Re: Question on wedding band rubbing against engagement sett

Going custom is your best bet. I wouldn't go shared prong, because that will hurt the ering. But how about a bead set band.. I think that would look lovely.. I am not a big lover of channel bands either, but the bead set is like a channel in that it has flat sides... HTH, good luck.

Re: Question on wedding band rubbing against engagement sett

Shared prong will create problems. I like the idea of a bead set or even a bezel band. The band won't sit flush, but some people like a little gap. Coordinated, but not necessarily matched kwim?

Re: Question on wedding band rubbing against engagement sett

sorry for the newbie question - but what is kwim short for?

I've been looking at some more of the bead set type rings, but most of them seem to have smaller stones? The nine stones together are probably around 1.3ct? Will that be a safe type of setting for these stones?
