I have recieved stats for a diamond that I picked out. I have not bought it yet, but it is set aside for the ring that is soon to be made.
It is saying that the girdle is overly thick, and won't let me put in the stats on the GIA calc that this website offers.

2 questions.

First,
It is graded by EGL USA labs, so does the GIA calculator still work in terms of what it is grading.

Second,
I've read up on Girdle, but it is not really telling me why it is horrible.
Most of the information I have read said that it is mostly to do with the setting, and on the pricescope page, it says,
"But thicker girdles have little impact on a diamond's sparkle."

Now, I wonder if this is why I have the 'halo' look only under the black light. Maybe it isn't a true fish eye, but rather an issue of the girdle? Could the girdle be to blame for the halo effect?

stats:
Depth 62.2%
Table 67%
Crown 13.9%
Pavillion 43.4%
Girdle Medium to Slightly Thick, faceted
Culet None
Finish:
Polish Good
Symmetry Good
Clarity SI2
Color D

Fluorescence Strong Blue

It does not have an overly thick girdle, but the performance of this stone is very far from ideal, and yes, this stone will probably exhibit fish eye. I suggest you start over with a new stone.

Table is much too large. Girdle variation is reasonable.

EDT:
What do you mean by GIA calculator?

But your salesperson already told you that it had a fish eye.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant to type HCA tool, not GIA.

Garry apparently didn't tabulate the results for a 67% table because it is rare for a stone to be cut to that size table.
