Hi Karl,

I don''t know if you can email specific people privately on this so I posted my question for you. I came across one of your posts from a long time ago that mentioned that Pearlman''s had some designers who did settings by hand that could do a reproduction of that ring. I contacted them and they said that it is something that they might be able to do. I was wondering if you knew where I might be able to find information on that ring such as shank width and thickness. I cannot even find another picture of that ring other than the one! My guess from looking at it is that I may need to make it a little less "dainty" as I am a girl that actually has to work with her hands for a living and I don''t want to have to wear my ring around my neck while at work like some of my coworkers do :).

Thanks so much

The shank on the one I saw was about 2.5mm+ and fairly thick.
It doesn''t look that wide because of the way it is made.
A lot of reproductions make it blocky with a modern channel or bead set instead of the old way of doing it which is a lot of work.
It is fluid looking in a way the repros are not.
I wish I could have gotten some pictures but the collector wouldn''t allow it.

Thank you so much for your help. You have been a great resource. I really appreciate it.

Are you a jeweler?

Storm... you mentioned before that you would ask the jeweler to use single cuts... but would that work on a shank that is more like 2.5 mm? I thought single cuts are just very tiny and used for bands more narrow than 2mm.

What type of head is on the original? Is it a cathedral type setting... or is the head just on top of the shank like the picture you added to show fishtail pave?

2mm single cuts go fine with asschers.
the head is integrated with the prongs soldered to the base, this repro isn't exact as I remember it but it is close.
Mainly because it is cast....
