Can a platinum channel-set diamond band with 12 diamonds across the top be turned into an eternity band, with diamonds going all the way around? My band is 3 mm wide, plat, with .50 ct channel set square baguettes (12 total) across the top of the band. Is it possible to add more diamonds so that they go at least 3/4 way around the band?

generally yes :-)

Excellent, thanks for the response, Gary! When we were shopping for my wedding band, we only had two weeks to find one, and I couldn''t find an asscher channel-set eternity band anywhere, so I just went for a stock wedding-band style. I think that I would like to have the diamonds go 3/4 way around, but I really didn''t want to change out my wedding band for sentimental reasons.

Is there a PS jeweler in the US who could make that type of adjustment, or would I be better off going with a local jeweler? I actually live about 20 minutes from Quest, so maybe they would be an option if I went local ...

Vesper-

I researched this same question a year ago with WhiteFlash and Quest. I want to take my Blue Nile .55 princess channel wedding band, add new ones and make an eternity ring. Im very attached to my wedding band but would love to get an eternity ring as well, using my current ring''s stones!

WF said yes they could, but they didn''t like too because more often then not, there are chipped stones in the ring that arent visable until the tiny stones are unset. For a platinum princess channel using my stones and then adding new ones to complete the eternity look, was $1500.

Quest said yes, absolutely no problem, and their quote was $2500

So it can be done, and I still plan on doing it sometime in 2008, but I may use palladium instead to cut the cost.

Thanks Feb! I may talk to Quest about the project - spendy, but maybe worth doing in a year or two.
