OK,

A few posts ago I believe you mentioned that you buy D, E SI1 for personal purchases. Just wondered if you only consider RB, or if you feel there is another acceptable shape? I already know how you feel about Radiants, something like millitary=intelligence like radiant=brilliance, so obviously you would not consider that shape. But are there other shapes you would consider instead of RB?

Thanks!

Some people have a preference for step cuts like emrerald and ascher styles. This makes sense because they have a great beauty - but beware thin girdles and chipping - and a thick girdle can even add to the appearacne in a prong setting.

There are new squareish cuts with rounded or cut corners like jubilee Q o Hearts and regent that can be fine stones because they have the possability of having the same pavilion angle all the way around the stone.

Not many others greatly impress me personally.

"Add to the appearance" in a negative way? Please clarify for me.

Thanks for your reply.

Girdles on many fancy cuts act as an extra set of facets if they allow light to enter from above and exit in the right dierction.

icelady...don't forget about shape appeal!

Even though people are insistant that nothing beats the round, you can show me a quadruple, 1000 facets, D IF, 9 star, 00000000, 3 carat round and I'm still not into it. It's beautiful but not the right shape for me. I think you love the radiant and should stick with it!!

Purists will always go for the round

This reads like "poor fish eye" in a Gem Adviser model, isn't it ?

Not with polished girdles Ana.
I first noticed this effect with the big gridle facets on Regent cuts.
It is litterally like another facet - and if it is thick, then take advantage of it and do not rub the stone in

In GA we grade phenomena. Could you see girdle through table or not. The grade of phenomena( total cut grade) is other question. For example is big LR good or bad?

The end grade depends from tradition. tradition are some times unreasonable.

Hey Gary,

I just received my Diamond from WF and its 'ACA'.
However when I look at it directly, it gives a dark center to it. Is it normal? Or my head blocking the light?

Your cut adviser rates it a 1.1pts

Also, I'd like to thank you for this site and your valuable contributions toward educating us folks.

p/s do you sell CZ stone set w/ tweezers? I've got the prongs, so no need for them. If so, how much? (i.e. I'd like to customise my order shipment from you)

Hi Joe,

Can you measure how far your head is from the diamond when you are looking at it and it appears dark in the center please.
It would also help to know if you have a big or a small head, and if your skin is dark or light. Seems like I am being strange, but it is all relevant.

Re the order - order anything at all at ideal-scope.com online, but write in the comments section exactly what you really want, and we will work out a fair deal and only bill your card for that amount. Our secure system allows us the flexibility

I have emailed Raj who will send it on monday.
