Question about WF diamond studs

My husband wants to buy me some diamond stud earrings for my birthday. I've never owned any, so I'm very excited! I have been looking at the Whiteflash website, and I'm interested in the Martini settings. I am unsure however about what kind, the 3-prong or the 8-prong. I am interested in their 0.75 tcw ready set pair, in 18k yellow gold. I don't know what they look like, because WF only has a picture of the white gold versions. Any one have pictures they could show me?
Does anyone have experience with these studs? Are their any considerations I should think about regarding 3 vs 8 prongs aside from just the way they look? Will they hold on to the diamond better?
Also, why would anyone choose their own diamonds and buy only the setting vs buying the ready set pair? I am not a diamond conaisseur (but I do like looking!), so would be happy with any decent sparkly diamond... Just curious.
I'm so excited! If these turn out nice, I will be back to get a diamond wedding band and matching e-ring! (My original set is long gone...)
Thanks for all of everyone's help.

Hi! Lucky you, getting some gorgeous diamond studs. :appl:

Take a look through the "Show Me Your Diamond Studs" thread which is pinned near the top of the first page in the "Show Me the Bling" forum. You will see 18 pages of studs there. It comes down to personal preference as to whether you prefer a particular metal or the number of prongs in the setting.

It is my understanding that Whiteflash does not have a Lifetime Trade Up guarantee on their "Ready-Set-Go" line of jewelry. If you think you might want to trade up to larger diamonds in the future, that would be a reason to select stones from their ACA or Expert Selection lines.

Hello!
How exciting that you're getting some gorgeous studs! It so happens I actually own pretty much the exact kind of pair you will be getting.
Same tcw 3 prong martini but set in plat.
I don't have any pics I've never taken them but I ADORE mine I had WF hand pick them and believe me they are super sparkly and I get tons of compliments on them.
My brother and I also had an 8 prong martini pair made for my mom a couple of years ago for Mother's day hers are 18k WG and they are to die for gorgeous. I wish everyday they were mine :Up_to_something:

I really think it is up to you about whether to go 3 prong or 8 prong. I'll just say I really don't think you can go wrong with the WF ones they are really great. I've never had a problem with mine wear them all the time and love them.
Congrats! Pls come back with pics! =)
