Hello Everyone!
I recently started to look at some settings and I have a question??

Is there a certain type of setting that makes the center stone pop more.. or make it appear larger or.. just make it look different?
The places where I went to look at setting basically had a 2ct CZ in all the settings and that''s way too big for my finger (size 4).. and it was a little difficult for me to tell what setting will look better with a stone btw 1-1.5ct..
And also.. another quick question if you don''t mind.. :)
I came down to the conclusion that cut is the most important to me( by reading many many posts here) and was wondering how do I know if it''s a great cut or not? do I ask to look at the certification??

Once again.. thank you so much for your time!

I personally think that settings with a thin band make a stone pop more and settings with a bezel (metal around center stone) or a halo (diamonds around center stone) make the stone look larger.

As far as getting a good cut goes, stick around here and read some more about what makes a great cut. Another good place to start is to only look at GIA "excellent" or AGS "ideal" cut diamonds. This isn''t foolproof, but it knocks out a lot of duds. Also, you should run the cut specs (depth, table, crown/pavillion) numbers though the cut advisor and rule out any stones that score over 2.0: https://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp. You can do a search to read more about the HCA. In addition, feel free to post specs of stones for us to evaluate. In general, I tend to look for stones that have a depth of 60-62% a table of 54-57% and crown/pavillion angles consistent with an HCA score of under 2.0.
