Anyways, my girlfriend has a size 4 1/2 ring finger. She wants me to buy a size 5 though, because she is afraid that her fingers will get bigger and the 4 1/2 will be too tight. I understand what she is saying. I just don''t want the ring to be too loose.
Our fingers all change size and I would get what fits her best on most days. I have a ring that in the winter is about 1/2 size too big and if I flip my hand too quickly the thing will go flying off. It fits perfectly in the summer.
What type of ring will it be? She could always get a 4.75.
No no, sorry. Eternity, solitaire, diamonds half-way down, couple of side stones, engraving on the band. The more detail, the harder something is to size later.
The engraving will probably not go all the way around the band. I''d say that the bottom 20% will just be plain white gold. Will that leave enough room for sizing?
Oh right. Somehow I didn''t read the user names and make the connection. Yes, there will be some room for sizing, within limits as with all rings. Most jewellers will do quarter size and some will do to an eighth (4 and 7/. Wider bands need to be bigger in size so make sure she was sized in something close in mm size to what she''ll be wearing. If she''s going to wear an 8mm ring, she shouldn''t be sized by the jeweller using 2mm rings. Wedding bands also take up some room, making it like a wider band, so take that into consideration if necessary.
I still think a half size jump is huge. My fingers vary about a size in different weather, but the 7.25 in a 2.5mm band can go flying off my finger in the winter, and spins around a lot which is annoying.
