Hello all! I wanted to know what your expert opinions were on this Princess diamond:

Clarity - VVS2

I loved the way this diamond looked - it was really brilliant. I placed a deposit for an platinum engagement ring and wedding band. I won''t be able to give an expert opinion, but I can say the setting is beautiful! My non-expert opinion is that you did get a good deal for that whole set because a store like BBB will mark up their merchandise quite a lot, compared to an online vendor or if you went to a diamond dealer in the diamond district of NYC (or where ever you are). You are getting a lot for your money...but like I said, I''m no where near an expert. Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable will chime in.

Thanks Crown Jewel! Any other takers to my question? I''m really anxious about this purchase - I''m buying this engagement ring/band for my brother. He''s going to grad school in a really small town and is too busy and clueless (his words, not mine) to find the rings. He really appreciates me helping him out but I''m extremely nervous! I hope that I got my future SIL the best ring that I possibly could have gotten. I''m going to the store next week to see the wax-up. Does it seem reasonable to have purchased this engagement ring and wedding band for $6000? Please help!

Firstly, what a wonderful thing you are doing for your brother - you are a very sweet sis! Regarding the diamond, Belle and Julie are good with Princess Cuts and will be able to help you further, but I just wanted to say that you could drop the clarity considerably and still have a clean diamond? Even as low as an SI1 or SI2 can be eyeclean. Also the colour could drop to a G perhaps? If your eyes love what you see and you think the price is good then fine, but lets see what the others say about the cut of this diamond before you pull the trigger.

If you use the search by cut feature under Prices, it will bring up similar diamonds to compare, I am not an expert but this one looks great to me!
