Question about modifying my Tiffany Engagement Ring

I have a Tiffany and Co engagment ring that is .42 carats in the "Tiffany" setting I was wondering if I could get a new larger stone reset into this setting? For me to sell this ring which has sentimental value would clearly be a loss in money and I was wondering if the head could be modified to accommodate a larger stone or if a new head could be put on that is similar to the original

I was looking at other people's posts and seen this ring

https://www.artofplatinum.com/vault/tulip-solitaire-enagement-ring

Could I just buy the head that would accommodate a 1ct stone and get that head attached to my original band?

Would a jeweler do this or would they be telling me this is unethical because its Tiffany and Co. I am not thinking of this to misrepresent I just think this would be a good way to up cycle the ring

If this is all possible how much would the modification cost?

Thanks soo much I just didn't want to sound like an idiot talking to a jeweler I was hoping you guys could school me on this so I am informed on everything

seems easier to me to just leave the tiffany ring as it is and get a whole new setting,
you can wear the other one on on your right hand or something.

Just seems impractical to modify a setting thats value is in the fact that its an intact "tiffany", modify it you take away the

a lot of people make that replica, and its not that expensive. I totally understand the sentimental value of a ring, but based on the fact your really eliminating the value of your original purchase, id just buy a new one and have both :wavey:

You're better off just buying a whole new ring and keeping yours intact. You could also trade yours back in to Tiffany intact for a whole new one diamond and all but you have to I believe pay double.

I recently trade in my tiffany .86 ct to a 2.06ct and paid extra 40000.
I guess Tiffany is not popular here for a reason :naughty:

The money it will cost to modify your ring won't be worth it. You are better off getting a new one if your want to maintain the style.

An unmodified T&CO ring / setting is much easier to sell.

Caveat here, new to Pricescope (long-time lurker), and no expert in evaluating the costs or issues involved in modifying your ring. I have, though, kept my original engagement ring and upgraded the stone size twice. I went from a .25 carat to a .57 carat to a 1.05 carat stone over the course of about 10 years.

Admittedly, the jeweler had to do some creative things and the setting itself may not be as elegant as I would have liked, but the result is, as they say, "priceless". Keeping the rings that we chose together and my poor, college-student husband put on my finger over 40 years ago is worth the world to me. You may decide that the sentimental value exceeds the monetary sacrifice involved in changing the ring. I encourage you to talk with some jewelers to see what they can do. I think they'll understand.

Just my thoughts. I enjoy the forum and have learned a lot!

This would not be advisable. How about a really blingy band to go with it - or one on both sides, since this ring is sentimental.

I talked to a jeweler they quoted me $200 - $300 plus the new stone and said it would be very very similar to the original head

I wouldnt ruin the ring for the 500 you are saving. the interacted ring is worth more. I think its just as sentimental to wear it on your other hand

Yeah I don't see the point in doing that. The plain band is literally the cheapest part of the ring, so you'd be keeping the cheapest part and swapping out the most expensive parts at greater cost. Cheaper just to get a whole new ring and sell the original or keep it as an heirloom to pass on, maybe to a daughter on her 16th birthday or something.
