I looking at a Princess cut 1.14 diamond, now the measurements on that diamond are 6.35 - 5.77 X 4.00 Now is there a real big difference between a square modified princess and a rectangular modified princess cut diamond?? Or are those measurements okay for that diamond??

No one can tell you anything about fancy cuts from a tiny little bit of data

We don't remember the exact ratio off the top of our heads, but the labs refer to a square modified brilliant when the two measurements for outside diameter are fairly close to each other and call it a rectangular modified brilliant when the difference gets greater... In other words, the answer to your question is that the two descriptions describe the same cutting style, but describe different length to width ratios...

The ratio cut-off is 1.05 to 1.00. That length-to-width ratio and less is considered square, while greater than that is considered rectangular.

The stone you're looking at has a l:w ratio of 1.10 to 1.00, and is considered rectangular.

The square usually has a better light return performance, although if you strike the right rectangle it can often be quite beautiful.

Just a woman's point of view but prefer a more rectangular stone. To me it makes it more interesting. But, you really have to see the stone to judge the dimensions. Cindy
