question about a princess cut diamond

Hi

Im new to this but have been reading a few of the posts. I am currently looking for a princess cut diamond. I am looking for something with nearly perfectly square proportions, ideal cut, and an overall good quality stone in shape, color, and clarity. Cut and proportions are very important to me along with finding a great stone with shine!!

The jeweler that I am working with found me a stone that he feels meets my desires. I was looking to get some feedback if this is a good quality stone. My price range is between 5,000 and 6,000

What is an "ideal" cut princess ? I do not know of any definition of 'ideal' for princess cuts... Of course, many sellers would have one, but they are all different

Honestly, I am not impressed by the table being so large and the depth being so off (to low COMPARED to the TABLE)

here's one:
1.07ct, V, VS2, D=69.3, T=67, L/W=1.01 $4,924.00

And another:

1.02ct, F, VS1, D=70.1, T=67, L/W= 1.01 for $4,766.00

They are both very square, and SLIGHTLY more square than the 1.03 you are looking at.

As someone who had been looking for a princess stone for a while, I feel I can help you out quite a bit. First, are you buying from a b&m? I highly suggest you check out the vendors here on pricescope. Just by looking at the proportions, I personally don't like tables being larger than depths. I thin it's good to stay in the f-g color range. The VS1-VS2 is also very good. As far as size, if you are considering getting a 1 carat, I would suggest looking for one in the .9-.99 range, given that you pay a premium once you hit that magical 1 carat mark. I highly advise you to check out the princess cut chart on gemappraisers.com to give you guidlines when looking for a good cut. I hope this helps.

what happens when the depth is 67 and the table is 72?

I understand the other stones you displayed are more favorable, but could you explain why you wouldnt get this one...or is it still a good stone, but not your favorite relationship between table and depth?
