Hello Everyone...

I''ve started a quest to purchase myself a pair of diamond stud earrings!!! (Am getting overwhelmed and stressed out!! Purchasing a car seems like a piece of cake compared to diamond shopping!!!) I''m hoping to purchase 1 ctw to 1.25 ctw. My budget is $2300-$2900. I''m looking for diamonds that are in the G-J range. But, I''m not too sure what clarity I should be focusing on. I''d like to get the best cut that I can afford.

Does anyone with experience/insight know of a direct vendor that is reputable?? Any assistance with this quest is much appreciated!!!

With Stud earings you can go lower on color and clarity. With a ring, a woman will stare at all day. I got my misses e-ring from GoodOldGold. NiceIce also has a good reputation for starters. Other people can recommend sites they've used.

So for stud earings, which are each about 60 points, I would search with H-J, SI1-SI2. You can get away with a lot in earings without them looking any much different. Try:

Good Old Gold Inventory

or perhaps from the pricescope search engine....

You can do a search in the Pricescope datat base to find stones listed in your size range. Any of the vendors there will gladly give you quotes on stones that are there also. If you see one stone that you think would fit your bill, call the vendor and they will find you a match if they do not already have it.

Diamondsideals.com usually have a nice selection of matching pairs. I purchased e.r. from them at a great price & great service.

As mentioned, diamonds in E.R. do not have to superior quality to look great. H/I color SI1-2 clarity will suite most people. Good luck.

I recently purchased earrings from Dirtcheapdiamonds.com's signiture ideals. They are .57ct each, G/SI2, and they look great. I can't see any inclusions, and people comment all the time on their sparkle. Jim Schultz helped me find a match to a stone that fit my criteria.

A friend purchased I/SI1's from DCD, and they are spectacular. Even side by side we can't really see the color or clarity difference. Keep the cut the best you can, and you can easily go G-I, SI1 or SI2.
