Bay City Rollers,
Donny Osmond,
ABBA winning Eurovision,
decimalisation of our currency (U.K.),
turning 10 and getting a Snoopy watch (which I still have)

does this make me elderly? Help!

Haha I question your use of the word elderly but you are only as old as you feel so perhaps you feel elderly. :)

The great music.
Bell bottom jeans, wide collar shirts and earth shoes.
Bean bag chairs.
Cars were easier to understand.
Rock candy.
Kitchen appliances in crazy colors.
Shag carpet (purple shag in my bedroom).
Charlie Angels haircuts (loved my Farrah Fawcett do).
Mood rings (mine was always black because my hands are always cold).
Mini dresses and other 70s attire.

My hairdo from the 70s :)

And my sister and I in our seventies attire as little girls

and otherwise cuckoo 70s attire. And bean bag chairs.

I loved the 1970s but I always say love the decade/time you are in right now because it's the best choice. Live in the moment.

I was a child in the Seventies, but I remember all home decor being orange, brown, and green. SO MUCH orange and green glass. Orange curtains. Brown sofas. Brown and orange swirly rugs. To this day, I dislike most citrine and peridot because it reminds me of the green and orange swirly glass interior doors of the Seventies.

No wonder the Eighties featured so many pretty ice-cream pastels, after the horrible palette of the Seventies!

Bean bag chairs! Yes! I loved mine, even though it was a horrible shade of green! So comfy.

I like your 70s hair, Missy! I think it's very flattering. I still like the Farrah do's. I think feathering is very flattering on most people. I find today's center parts to be quite harsh on many, and that a softer style is more forgiving.

My fave hairdo! I know bangs and feathering are massivley out of style, but I think they're so much easier to wear than center parts and no bangs. My hair is currently quite short, but if it's ever long again, I might ask the hairdresser specifically for a Seventies feathered do!

Fun music! ABBA, Elton John, The Carpenters, John Denver. I loved more of the soft pop stuff when I was young like that. Now I wished I'd gone to a Led Zeppelin concert instead, though. In the latter '70's I moved into Steely Dan and The Eagles. The music that you're given growing up is the greatest gift, because as time progresses I've loved modern songs, but nothing sounds as sweet as when you were a teenager. I just can't stand hip hop and rap and even a lot of current pop. You had to be brought up hearing it to like it, apparently.

I also remember lots of house plants and macrame and bean bag chairs (which I didn't like) and very short skirts and hot pants and Bonne Bell Lipsmackers, wearing bright green eyeshadow and Farrah Fawcett bangs. I love it when young people do all these crazy experimental things with their hair and makeup and clothes now, because it's really the only time to do it! Let's face it, try and wear bright green eyeshadow when you're over 65 and most people will look at you as if you're an ass.

I was a child also and I have memories of this!

* my parents wallpapering (in gold, brown & orange).
* No seat belts. If we sat in the front with Dad (bench seat) he would put his arm out as he braked to keep us on the seat. He did this for years as a habit when seat belts came in.
* My mum made me crochet bikinis which were yellow and I loved them.
* Singing God save the Queen at school (I think it stopped mis 1980’s & we then sang the National Anthem).
* Milk in bottles delivered by the milkman.
* Only two tv stations.
* the pub had the men’s bar and the ladies lounge.
* the butcher had sawdust on the floor.
* the biggest packets of mixed lollies for 10c
* corduroy overalls & knee high brown boots.
* Sunday school (even though my parents didn’t go to church often)
* seemed like everyone smoked - in restaurants, on planes (non smoking sections right next to each other), teachers at school, the doctor at his desk while treating you!
* freedom to be a child - uncomplicated & simple

Thank you for validating me, lol! I can't say I like it, either, although I've tried. It seems very harsh to me, compared to the sweet pop songs of the 1950s-1980s.

ELDERLY?????? :-o

I’m not elderly just because I remember the 70’s!

Lol, you took the words out of my mouth! I was one in 1970 and 10 in 1979 but I have clear memories of the 70's. I don't consider myself elderly!

I do remember my friends parents had plastic over their furniture to keep it clean, lots of plastic carpet runners too. And avocado green and yellow, especially kitchens and appliances. Huge station wagons.

Our high-school had a student smoking lounge. We had a rifle club.

The music was awesome. Those days of misspent youth were pretty much exactly like Fast times from Ridgemont High. I remember drinking "Tickled Pink".

I think our generation was the last to be kicked out in the summer morning until dark. We played all over the streets without worry.

I remember when Elvis died. I had a crush on Kurt Russel when he was a teen child star.

I remember having to wear gloves to church as a child. Mom wearing a pair of pants to church on Wednesday night to the church potluck supper and was corrected for improper dress.

A few years later all the ladies wore matching polyester pantsuits.

So many memories.

I wasn't very old in the 70s but its weird what you remember.
My sister saved her money did odd jobs and baby sitting and begged my mom to get here these certain shoes.
They had really thick rubber like soles on them.
Sort of sandal like but with super thick soles.
She had them like 2 weeks and she left them in the car and the soles melted.
The store would not take them back or help in anyway.
She was heart broken.
