Firstly, I appreciate all the time knowledgeable and experienced diamond people take to post good information to this website and others. This information has made me a more informed diamond purchaser. Now my dilema.

Armed with my new found knowledge, have looked at lots of diamonds and had more or less decided I would let my eyes make the final decision; but if I liked what I saw and it was GIA certified in the range of VS1 or VVS2, D or E, 60-70% table, 70-75% depth, Ex polish, VG sym, etc: I would have had a pro lab agree that my eyes weren''t deceiving me. ie. Would end up with a very nice princess cut diamond.

Have come across a GIA VS1 - E diamond which is absolutley eye catching but it has a table of almost 80% and depth of almost 76%. Polish is Ex and symmetry is VG.

Anything I have read suggests the smaller a table, the more fire and this stone appears to defy the norm.

I realize that being a stone, any number of physical properties are possible.

My eyes tell me this stone is the one and in combination with a good GIA that probably should be good enough, but having taken the time to become more informed the purchase is not where I thought I would be at.

Does anyone see that I should have any reason for concern.

Thank You

What kind of lights did you look at it in? I don''t know much about square stones, so am not saying this isn''t a good stone, but I do know that some jewelry store lights can make anything dance with life. Look at it in a variety of light, similar to real everyday life -- outdoors, dim light, office lighting, incadescant lighting, etc. ignore what you see under the bright halogens unless it will be worn in that type of lighting environment regularly.

i think if you have looked at a number of stones, and this is the one that catches your eye, you should get it. don''t start second guessing yourself. i''m sure it''s a winner!
